Ridley and the ANGC membership still have the opportunity to do the right thing and ban the LIVtards from the Masters for life. no court could stop them from doing so
A threat is a lot different than actually taking action. Hunter Mahan spoke about this in a recent subpar podcast and questioned if the Masters has the right to ban players that have qualified for their tournament.

They didn't send an invite to Charlie Sifford after he qualified.

The Masters can basically do whatever they want. Tweak the qualifying criteria any time they want. Could be as easy as stating any invitee (sans amateurs) must be a member in good standing of a qualified tour.

No it couldn't be. Because like 6 of them are past winners and a bunch of other ones earned exceptions through winning other majors and world ranking points. And why would the Masters care if players were in good standing of a qualified tour?

Shifty, are you serious with that?

I'm about done feeding this troll.

Obviously all tournaments can and do tweak their qualifying criteria occasionally. For example, over the years The Masters has reduced the number of players who qualify due to their finish at the prior year's Masters and U.S. Open. They used to invite all quarter finalists from the U.S. Am. They have also fiddled with not inviting players who are only eligible by winning one PGA Tour event.

And obviously, if one doesn't know how much power ANGC has, one doesn't watch golf and probably shouldn't be posting about it.

Let's not forget that ANGC has been known to monitor this forum. There was that time when 2+2 screenname Stadler played in the Masters and they paired him with Craig Stadler

I am aware of Augusta's power. But its not as simple as just saying invitees have to be a member of a qualified tour. They would have to break their entire tradition of inviting past champions, champions diner etc. Augusta is very big on tradition and it's a big part of what makes the Masters special.

Why do you think Augusta is willing to do this? No player is ever skipping the Masters to play a LIV event they aren't in competition with each another. So why is Augusta going to risk millions in lawsuits and break sacred traditions, because the PGA Tour is upset it has some competition?

lol at thinking angc is worried about any of that.

likely solution for the pga, if it ever came to it (it wont), would just be to make all tournaments invitationals with the exact same qualifying as today...except the liv losers aren't invited.

Regarding the majors, PGA has no authority over ANGC or, as far as I know R&A (who has already announced LIV golfers who quality can play The Open next year if they qualify). They have some authority over US Open and for sure the PGA. I do not see ANGC banning past champions ever (I live locally and past champions are a huge deal here, doesn't matter how old or competitive they are) and I expect they will honor their top ten being invited back (not sure if any LIV golfers were in top ten this year so this may be a moot point. I think DJ came in 11th. The real issue is going to be the world rankings system keeping LIV players from qualifying.

DJ happens to be a past winner

again, ANGC can do whatever the fk they want. we'll have to be patient to see how things check out with Ridley & Co.

They've literally trademarked the phrase "A tradition like no other". You think they should end tradition and go against Bobby Jones vision because...

I am surprised there has not been more uproar among current Liv players regarding how the team competition is done. They essentially took arguably the 3 best Liv players, and put them on the same team. The weekly draft lasted exactly one week I believe.

Given the millions at stake just in the team competition, I'm surprised there haven't been more complaints. It's essentially a system to funnel millions to Pat Perez.

Then again I suppose they're all making bank and it's all a joke anyway, so maybe none of the players even gives a ****.

Has the world golf rankings stated whether or not they are going to recognize LIV in their rankings? That will determine if the top players continue he going to LIV or go back to the PGA.

If you want to talk about history, you're forgetting the "yang" to Bobby's "yin": Clifford Roberts. Read The Master: Golf, Money, and Power in Augusta, Georgia if you want to know what ANGC is all about.

What, you don't find the fast food aficionado named after Thomas the Train compelling?

LIV has applied to OWG to be recognized. OWG has acknowledged that they have received an application.

The wiki article on OWG is interesting, especially considering who pays the OWG to operate. It appears that Augusta National pays as much as the PGA Tour and DP Tour. That is odd that they even pay at all. let alone an equal amount.

My understanding (could be incorrect in some) re OWGR

New tours must comply with certain standards to be considered for 12 months

LIV does not yet comply with some of those standards

After 12 months their events can be eligible for points

So best case scenario, LIVtards get their tour in compliance (say in the fall) and then have 12 months before points are assigned

Basically this is why Fatrick is going to play Asian Tour events: to grow the game, spend more time with his family, play less golf and get those pesky OWGR points
