those who mock the field, mock the team names, mock the format are really the lackeys.

Sure there are going to be issues, but I am interested see how the team concept works. I like seeing some of the different locations and lesser known Asian players.

I would like to think it would be very hard for them. Everyone acknowledges the problem of the Saudi government, but it's always kind of glossed over at a higher level....hard to forget that the backer is the Public Investment Fund, which at the very least owned the jet that flew 15 people to Turkey to suffocate a journalist at best, begin dismembering him when he was still alive at worst, and staged a BBQ to cover up the smell of them dissolving the body parts.

I thought it was alright to begin with... then it was just a bit meh compared to what I watch on Sky in the UK on the PGA and Euro tour. It became boring and non interesting maybe that has to do with the field being pretty weak or players I don't know but saying that I could watch a Euro Tour event and not know most players.

Not that I was paying attention all that well but felt I didn't really I got much info about the shot or about the hole or how to play it etc.

Looks like the payout for last place in these Liv events is $120k. So that's an absolute minimum of $840k to any golfer who plays all 7 events, and finishes DFL in every one of them. Some of these no-names must feel like a winning lottery ticket landed in their lap.

By comparison the payout for 48th place at the RBC this week is $24k, and you'd have to beat out 108 other players to get it.

The whole situation is beyond bizarre. This new league is clearly a joke but the money is insane.

Also not to bring politics into it, but interesting that 2 of the 8 events (including the team finale) are at Trump courses. I suspect there will be a distinctly MAGA crowd attending these events. I'm guessing the Donald himself makes an appearance. Fitting I suppose, the ultimate huckster at the ultimate circus of a golf league.

Saudis aside, regarding the presentation you can tell they're going for a more "casual viewer" approach, which has potential, but looks amateurish in its current form.

And I only watched for maybe an hour total, but the announcers were pretty cringe.

I understand wanting to make a lot of money, but ruining your legacy and losing respect of fans like me doesn't seem to be worth it. Pimping for a murderers is not a good look.

I guess LIV can be roughly be compared with Bonds, Clemens, et al doing steroids. In my view those players did not lose whatever legacy they had previously achieved. HOF voters who refuse to vote for those guys are just cheating the history of the game. Go back and kick out Ty Cobb if that is your point.
