Obviously his original plan was to play last week and then this week at the Farmers. Serious question, if you're in college how in the **** do you just take 2 weeks off of school in the middle of a semester???

In interviews during the Amex he said he was doing homework at night. It's the first of the semester, probably not much going on.

When I was in college, the golf team missed the most class days of any athletic endeavor. You have to talk to professors in advance a lot and then get hammered academically when you return.

Best play I can find is Matthieu Pavon at +669. Had a good end of 2023 including a DP Tour win. One back of one guy and only one guy tied with him at much worse odds.

Not gonna watch a second of this. But pre-tourney 20K on Jaeger, 108k on Pendrith, and 112k on Detry. Detry's Kyle Stanley impression on that closing par 5 had me feeling as dejected as him last night. He's a total thorn in my side betting wise. I have no idea how his caddy let him hit that shot in the first place, and have no idea how the hell he hasn't won a damn thing so far on any tour at 31 years old.

Nicolai scares the hell out of me, but he's been complaining about flying from the middle east and barely getting any sleep. That trio yesterday just played 5.5 hours and have to go do it all over again in a trio. That's a lot of mental drain for him to go through, but he's the most talented player up there. I can't see any of the -8 guys winning it other than Pendrith. Montgomery is driving it so short per his standards. Lots of -7 guys could pull off a miracle but it's a wild guess at which one, and most of the talented ones have terrible odds. Pavon hits it way shorter, and his irons way lower on firm greens. He's at a disadvantage there vs the rest but can scramble his ass off. Hoping one of my guys pull it off.

Let me put the reverse jinx on Finau's putting. You almost never see a good putter with low hands at setup, makes it next to impossible to put a pure stroke on it. Low hands mean radial deviation at setup when the vast majority of good putters have ulnar deviation. In layman's terms this means a bit of bow in the left wrist at setup. The bow restricts movement in the smaller muscles while the opposite allows more movement in the smaller muscles.

FML this is painful. #1, #4, and #5 heading into the last day I would take every time pre-tourney. I didn't see Pavon pulling it off, but he's Pat Reed'd his way to a win here.

WTF, I had no idea this started on Wednesday and today was the final round??? I assume they did that to avoid the NFL playoffs.

Yeah although with that leaderboard I suspect few people watched anyway.

Pavon has been sneaky good lately though so not surprised to see him win. Jaeger will break through eventually, he's a fixture in my Draftkings lineups and has been very consistent. Actually had Pavon, Jaeger, Hossler and Homa this week, but Eric Cole decided to finally miss a cut so no chance at a big win.

The most obvious thing to me is Finau's eyes being a good 4" inside of the line of the ball. His feet seem at least 12 inches from the ball.

Seve had a similar posture with his eyes maybe 2 inches inside the line.

Also, just looking at Finau's posture it appears his shoulders have little to do with his stroke, i.e. too much freedom with arm movement.

Seve's posture on the other hand seems as if his shoulders can freely rotate along with arm movement. Hence more consistency.

I don't get the Hubert Green thing with the toe of the putter, but whatever.

Just my 2c

Both are correct.

Finau has too much freedom because of the radial deviation, it allows the small muscles to move in various directions.

Seve doesn't have radial deviation, his setup is neutral, forearms and putter shaft in a straight line. This limits the free movement of the smaller muscles.

If Finau got closer to the ball, the hands would have to naturally be higher thereby eliminating the radial deviation and limiting the freedom of small muscle movement. He wants to putt the way he swings, with low hands.

Now we know why he could play such an aggressive shot over water with confidence, as playing right for a chip/putt for win or seemingly locked in for playoff was probably the wiser play with such a severe lie.

Scott Simpson did this (with his club) at 1987 US Open at Olympic on #18 to get up/down out of high rough to beat Watson by a shot. Lee Janzen would routinely pound down on the grass prior to his shot. And of course there is Patrick Reed.

Can't wait to see pebble this week. Big storm coming through. Should be interesting to see if/how they are able to get all the rounds in. Pebble has tough weather to begin with, so....this will be fun for sure. Also can't wait to hear all the pros crying about it...

Tough decision to make. 72 hole PGA Tour event from Pebble Beach vs. 54 hole LIV event from Mexico. Looking forward to seeing the TV numbers.

I have a feeling Pebble Beach will end up being a 54 hole event
