I wonder what the most times a particular hole has been played during a round on the PGA tour?? Four times today, I think. Betting the record might be 7 or so, just pulling it out of my arse wild guess. Looks like the record for longest playoff is 11 holes, then a bunch at 8 holes, but unclear if any of them continually played the same hole. I bet they might have back in the day.
Another interesting record might be most subpar scores on same hole during round + playoff. Fowler had 3 on #17 @ TPC Sawgrass, but Taylor had 3 today on #18.
IMO holes that have scoring avg 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, etc. make for exciting golf. The hole can be considered very easy, or very difficult, simply based on an arbitrary par value.
I wonder if he had any side-bet going on about what the chances were that he would be mistaken for a fan if he comes running on the green while spraying a bottle of champagne and security takes him out? But what sort of fan does that anyway?
No Laying Up posted a really good video of 2 of the guys playing a match at LACC. Gives a great feel for the course and what kind of things the players will have to look out for.
Look like an awesome course with some really unique holes. Totally psyched for this week.
