I thought LIV was off limits here?

Who would have thought a year ago everything that happened in the last 6 months?

And X != 40.

A year ago I would have never guessed Phil would be persona non grata in the golf world.

It's bizarre to me how a grown man can get this upset over a bunch of golfers going to play on another tour. At the end of the day why do you care so much?

That being said, 12 of the last 24 major winners are now on LIV.

shi(f)ty doesn't want to post in the LIV thread because the purpose of the LIV is not the LIV. The purpose of the LIV is to stick a finger in the eye of the PGA Tour.

One might think elevating current top tier PGA Tour players' net worth a hefty amount would be a good thing.

Do you think that makes it a good product? 'Cause it don't.

Ok? Don't watch it then.

Do you think the PGA Tour having 12 of the last 24 major winners makes it a good product?

KFT finals is a lot of fun to watch. So much emotion when these guys make a clutch shot to secure their Tour card. Awesome watching people's dreams come true.

Exactly. That’s what golf is all about, those life changing moments. You’ll never see that on LIV.

Lol what? An 18 year old Jordanian teeing it up with DJ and Smith in round 1 isn't a life changing moment?

I would attempt to explain why it’s suspect, but unlike my younger days, I rarely attempt to educate ignorant trolls any more.

Wow quite a bizarre ending to the Napa tournament. Danny Willett with a less than 4-foot putt to win on the 72nd hole, somehow 3-putts and hands it to Max Homa.

This after Max had chipped in from the fairway for birdie... Willett had to be 99% to win before Max hit that chip.

Willet laughing and smiling while 3 jacking from 4-foot to lose the tournament just no intensity, these players don't care.

As it turned out (probs estimated):

-Homa chipping in 0.03:
-Homa up and down: 0.75;
-Willett missing from 3'7 0.08;
-Willett missing from 4'8 0.2.

Homa win outright: 0.03 x 0.08 x 0.2 = 0.00048

Homa win playoff (a): 0.03 x 0.08 x 0.8 x 0.5 = 0.00096

Homa win in playoff (b): 0 75 x 0.08 x 0.2 x 0.5 = 0 006

Homa win: 0.00744 or 133:1.

I'm assuming Willet would not 4 putt.

I'm guessing generic 3 putt prob from 3'7 is about 0.003. That increases Homa's odds to 440:1 if calculated that way, instead of using the 4'8 2nd putt distance.

I think the 440:1 odds are correct. If Willett was playing on LIV the Saudis would pay for a complimentary suicide watch. Just one more thing they have on the tour

I’m good with the approximate percentages, but you can rule out the 3rd scenario. If Homa doesn’t chip in there is zero chance of Willett 3-putting. He would hit that putt with dying speed and have nothing more than a 6-incher left.

That's a good point. Nobody's gonna lag the four footer for a win as that would be epically scaredy cat, but if you have two strokes to win from there, then there is just no pressure at all and dying it is completely rational, and there is the elimination of nerves with the cushion. Actually the one bit of pressure really is to simply not make a fool of oneself, but I could see Mickelson maybe blasting it in? He doesn't mind a little gamble after all. I actually suggest it though since during one broadcast the announcers were saying that he hammers his putts in, at least at that the time during that particular tournament.

The way it played out was pretty cringe, and the camera close-up voyeurism of Homa's emotions during the meltdown made me a little tense, since he has to conceal any desire for the windfall if he has any.

Imagine crying like that about an eye when the Saudis will easily buy you a new one. Sounds like that one wasn't any good anyway if he walked right into a rope at eye level.

Probably correct, but I've seen dumber things done at finishing holes over the years.

Ruling out missed chip => playoff chance, Homa's odds pre-chip were:
-Win outright - 0.03 x 0.08 * .2 = 0.00048
-WIn in playoff - 0.03 x 0.08 x 0.5 = 0.0012

Adds up to 0.00168, or 594:1.

Zip talk about the Prez Cup.

I'll keep it on in the background this weekend, but a pretty uninspiring event that has suffered greatly from some of key players being absent.

The US is in the midst of boat racing them. Possibly the most live it has ever been to enter Sunday already decided which is an incredibly depressing thought for a PC/RC.

Yeah looking like a rout.

McGinley had a good idea, make it a mixed event with 6 men/6 women. The international women are better than the US so it would help level the playing field and make for a more competitive match. Not to mention good for the ladies' game as well.

Probably doesn't help that the International team has only won once, 24 years ago.
