Unpopular opinion but I'm not a fan of some of these greens. Especially when they're firm, they're almost TOO tough. Like putting on a bowling alley. Slopes are crazy also... they often don't reward great shots. Bubba hit a great approach on 15 onto the green, and ended up in the water. Half the tee shots on 16 end up being funnelled to almost the same exact place on the edge of the green, regardless of where it lands. Doesn't seem right when shots that miss the target by 6 inches, end up in the same place as a shot that misses by 30 feet.

But almost no rough....so you can hit a bad tee shot and still have a decent lie. You have to have some penalizing shots and the greens is where they make it very firm and fast.

if augusta didn't have ridiculous greens it would be an easy course, what fun would that be

You know you've made it in golf when you have a scrub standing behind you on the practice range whose job it is to toss you golf balls one at a time.

Is there anyone who doesn't think Reed is going to shoot about a 73 today?

If Reed takes this down tomorrow would it put him in the top 5 of the OWGR?

Nope, per @vc606 . It appears the highest he could rise to is 11th.

You must have wound him up - looks like he might have a chance of being the first person to break 70 in all 4 rounds!

One of the reasons today's round was so fun to watch was that approach shots were actually holding the greens. Allowed the great players to get aggressive for a change.

They will probably crank up the sub air system overnight and we'll be back to watching everyone's perfectly-struck shots rolling off the greens tomorrow.

Sadly, I guess this will be true!

Good call. I was wrong about Patrick, happy he's proving me wrong. Hopefully you put some coin on him.

So until last night I didn't know the story about Reed allegedly shaving strokes in his qualifying rounds in college, trying to play the wrong ball, and allegedly stealing some money and a Scotty Cameron from a teammate at Georgia... I know we have some very good players in here who know some of the top amateurs and maybe a few tour pros too... Is the hate for Reed pretty significant in those circles? I'm actually amazed that there is never a mention of any problems at all on the broadcasts, as much as they talk about those national titles in college.

Even without specifics, are there any rumors about shadiness since he's been a professional? I know he Monday qualified at a ridiculous rate... any opportunities for shenanigans in those? I assume shaving strokes would be virtually impossible since they're obviously keeping scorecards.

I was going to be rooting for Rory and Rickie anyway, but this makes me root for them even more intensely.

Cockiness or confidence? Fine line

Trivia question: What do the numbers on the bibs of the caddy mean?
