I'm just guessing, but today's game improvement 4-iron probably has the loft of an old 1-iron. Although its a helluva lot easier to hit consistently.

https://www.golfdigest.com/story/cam...mps-power-move

does cam champ really launch his drives at 4 or 5 degrees? that's 1) so inconsistent with conventional wisdom the last 20 years, 2) i would think that would getting towards "worm burner" territory (have to check the cosine on that angle)

Golf Digest recently visited with Champ to get a closer look at his impressive drives, talk to him and Foley about how he became the longest player in professional golf, and capture his blazingly fast swing for your viewing pleasure. His stock drive is a missile, launching at only 4 or 5 degrees (most bombers launch it at 11 degrees or more) yet staying in the air nearly 300 yards before it lands and rolls another 40 or 50. You have to see it to believe it, but you better duck. —Ron Kaspriske

Dechambeau with as many wins in his last twelve starts (4) as young Rickie's career (241 starts)

Dechambeau has announced that he plans on leaving the pin in on some putts in 2019

he talks about it here (smart guy using his degree and making a smart choice imo):

https://www.golf.com/tour-and-news/2...in-2019-rules/

he says the Tours/R & A made a mistake with this rule ... so much so that they might have to rethink keeping it.

i can see this actually slowing down play. one player wants the flag out ... next guy wants it in ... next guy wants it out ... caddies walking back and forth taking the flag out and putting it in.

The whole point of the rule change was to speed up play for casual rounds, it had nothing to do with tour. The PGA Tour should just make their own rule that you have to take the pin out, since a caddie is always there to tend the flag. Otherwise as you point out there is going to be a lot of ******ation and slow play out there.

Not really they all take so long eyeing up the putts. See how many players follow him doing it

Kuchar's sports psychologist must have told him that a win still counts as a top 10.

kudos to Willett ... he was dead in the water just a year ago.

Rose back to #1 in the world ranking despite not playing this week, but don't worry as Koepka will usurp him next week without either of them playing

Great system

Patrick Rodgers just shot the lowest final 36 holes (61-62) in PGA Tour history.

CH3's first win in 4,291 days!!!!!

Damn. Westwood, Kuch and now CH3 winning? This could a sign of the apocalypse.

I don't mind the new schedule but I really miss having the matchplay event in March, and even more I miss that Dove Mountain course. It was awesome to see on TV.

glad i heard about the free B/R stream for "The Match" ... caught all of the 4 hole playoff. that was a sick greenside bunker shot by Phil on hole #19. also classy for Phil to give Tiger the putt on hole #21.

Tiger conceded a similar length putt earlier.

Wrong thread though!

Briefly watched the Shark Shootout yesterday. Lexi must have taken about five minutes to hit a chip shot

ffs it's a silly season event, not the US Open, hurry the **** up

Favorite part of the silly season next week. Watching John Daly get outplayed by his son.

Small bet on Champ to lead after first round (+2000) and large ones on molinari over champ and woodland over champ (tournament). Champ goes and bombs first drive 355 down the middle and birdies the hole... hmmmm...
