If you're going to win the hole on a "technicality" then at least own it. I have no issue with him claiming the hole if that's how he wants to do it (well, a bit of a problem, but a different one) - but the whole "sorry, out of my hands guys. I'm such a nice guy, but I'm just not allowed to be!"-shtick is so fake.

Sergio is an annoying whiner and asking for a concession on the next hole was dumb, but I don't really see how anyone is taking Kuchars side on this unless they're just basing it on not liking Sergio and not on the actual situation.

As mentioned, Pettersen got crucified for way less than what Kuchar did here. And she owned it, until she was forced to make an apology she never should have had to.

Who said Lee lied? If Sergio had the mental awareness to claim he heard Kuchar say "good" then he likely could have replayed the stroke.
I thought Sergio took a stroke and missed it. If he scooped the putt with no intention of stroking it then he should have claimed he heard "good". I seriously doubt Kuchar would challenge it like Pettersen did, as Lee's putt was about 20 inches, not exactly a 100% gimmie especially considering the circumstances.

They are both huge douche bags. Kuchar has every right to win the hole, but he needs to say “I didn’t give it to him, it’s his fault, we’re playing for a lot of money here and it’s not my responsibility to bail him out.”

I think Kuchar image has taken a hit the last 6 months with the caddie short pay and now this. I was always a big fan but even this makes him look bad. If he was honest and just said exactly what you stated I think everybody is fine with it.

Obviously it helps Kooch tremendously that he did it to Sergio. If he'd done it to someone who was well liked (and possibly someone who haven't been beating up on the US in Ryder Cup...), he'd get a ton of criticism, also from a lot of those defending him now.

I'd rather have Kuchar repping my gear than Sergio, not close. Only person I can think of that might be worse is Fatrick.

It depends what market you're going for I think. If you're going for the North American market, then no doubt Kuchar is better than Sergio.

If you're going for the European (and probably rest of world) then Sergio is much better.

As a European, I love Sergio. Him getting his major (and a Masters at that) is one of the highlights of modern golf imo. Sure, he's a whiny, emotional ***** sometimes but I'll take that over Kooch's non-emotional permanent smile any day. He's also the guy who conceeded that putt to Fowler. It's not like he's whiny because he's a dick - he's no Bubba Watson. He just gets very (way more than he should) emotional about things that he considers unfair. There is no way Sergio would've done what Kooch did and so he gets way too emotional when someone he feels has his respect does it to him.

Pretty sure Seve wouldn't fare any better in NA social media than Sergio if he was around for this generation.
