On both the PGA Tour and Champions Tour they are increasing field size so more players can get in this year, but also guaranteeing everybody keeps their status for next year as well. Those on the inside are protected from multiple sides while those knocking on the door are screwed for 18 months. To make matters worse, on the PGA Tour, they’ve reduced the number of Monday qualifying spots this season from 4 to 2.
So yeah, I’m not pleased. But I have taken this time to relearn how to putt and am currently playing some of the best golf of my life. So when the time comes to compete again, I’ll just have to go out and successfully Monday Q into a Champions Tour event and then play good enough that they can’t shut me out.
