Harold Varner III moves from FedEx Cup #102 to #29 (inching closer to invites to the Masters, U.S. Open, and British Open). Performing well in the Playoffs can change career projections.

Gotta say, Fatrick has the sexiest top tracer ball flight when he's on. Love that draw when it's honing in on the pin.

Over Bubba?!

I can't imagine how much Bubba would have moved the ball if he played a few decades ago.

I'm confused.

Here's what I know:
Top 25 on Korn Ferry Tour qualified for the PGA Tour.

26-100 on KF Tour + 126-200 on PGA Tour are competing for 25 PGA Tour cards in a 3-Tournament series.

Why are some of the Top 25 KF guys playing in this series?

They'll improve their category on the PGA tour with a good result, which means they can play more and bigger tournaments.

Thank you. I assume they can also earn some monies, too.

Yep - 1 million USD prize money (180 K for the winner) for each of the three tournaments which is probably a motivating factor too

I attended one day of the 1990 U.S. Open at Medinah. I remember how tight many of the tee shots were and how tough it seemed to be. Scores were good the first day but after 72 holes -8 was the best total for four rounds.

The course is now some 400 yards longer. The rating is 78.3/152 according to wikipedia. And it was just being taken apart yesterday. There are no defenses against modern equipment used by fit players.

But you knew that.

Conditions were very soft. Wasn't playing near that rating probably. Rough pretty thick.

He gained almost two in one hole probably. It was probably his best iron striking day of his entire life. Happens to everyone at some point. Has this thing in the bag but there will still be some interesting shuffling for spots for next week.

Bryson must be a total headcase to be fussing over putts like that. He needs to get things squared away sooner than later. Not good!

Someone call Taylormade, Tigah needs new wedges

And putter

NBC is so bad

"Tiger needs to get to 12 or 13 under"

Hes at 8 under with five holes left

Tiger needs to stop imitating my short game

Assume that’ll get Jason Coat Rack through

Matsuyama shoots 63 twice and still loses by 5, pretty nuts

It's true that he didn't win the tournament, but he moved from outside the top 30 to inside the top 30... so in that aspect he is a big winner.

I've been a hater of the FedEx Cup "playoffs", but I will say that the changes made for this year have been an improvement. Going from 4 events to 3 has upped the sense of urgency and I think that what they're doing next week, with players getting shots instead of the point system, will make the final more interesting.

The payouts are fairly obscene, too.
