I enjoyed golf more without the fans. The roars for big putts and such are nice but they don't outweigh, for me, the shitheads that go to events and say and yell dumb-ass ****.
Some ******* just now on #16 tee said "don't hit it in the water" as Burns was about to address his tee shot. After he hits it in the rough near some trees the same yahoo says "looks like you might have some tree trouble". He didn't even need to yell as he was within 3 meters or so of Burns.
i often wonder if the people doing that stuff bet heavily on the other side
i'm also in the no crowd camp like KJ seems to be. US golf fans are stupid as **** and i don't want to hear their spew.
Yes I hate to generalize as I know it's a minority of people acting like jerks... but why can Euro tour fans act normal while so many US fans feel the need to act like absolute idiots? I just don't get it.
count me in the "no fans" group. vocal minority are just soooooo annoying.
i did think it was cool when the only fans were the people that lived on the course. they seemed nice and polite. although they were probably just relieved that there houses weren't in danger of being hit for a week.
Couldn't the tour just start tossing fans who yell stupid stuff? It seems like people would get the message before too long and things would settle down.
JB Holmes finally makes a cut (barely), fires his caddy (Kip Henley) Friday night, then proceeds to play way worse Saturday and Sunday. I get there's a lot going on with that relationship; I find it pretty interesting.
In Kip's words, "our personalities couldn't have been more different."

Cink played better after firing Kip, so I guess it was worth a shot.
Was watching Greatest Rounds on golf channel last night and it was the 1999 PGA championship at Medinah (Sunday when Woods won but Sergio stole the show) and the fans were straight up booing at times. Jim Nance and others called it embarrassing. Guess my point is it hasn't really changed much over the years. I do eye roll at the constant "it's so great to have the fans back" rhetoric.
i was watching the British Masters this morning when it happened. saw him bomb a big birdie putt on 18 to get his final total, and then he has to wait around for over an hour to find out he was going to be in a playoff.
Migliozzi was in one of the last groups and tied with him going into 18, hits a poor tee shot and plugs in the rough just to the right of a fairway bunker. he gets relief in thick rough and proceeds to hit a hell of a shot from 210 out over water into a greenside bunker, and gets up and down to finish tied.
Bland hit his drive on the first playoff hole (18) just off the edge of the fairway and it settles into a divot. he plays a 5w and the bottom of the club was barely at the equator of the ball. this was the result:
Spoiler:
the winner's interview. as they said, he had one bogey in four rounds at the Belfry...such impressive stuff.
Watched a good chunk of the coverage Thursday and Saturday, glad to see a lot of video of Speef. For whatever reason, watching his swing does good things for my own.
Not nearly as interested in yesterday's TV, I guess the only time I really enjoy watching golf being played in the rain is at the British Open/Open Championship.
