Not only does Morikawa have great distance control with his irons, his stock shot is that soft two yard fade like Jack liked to play. It’s a shot that can hold a spot on damn near any green when compared to those that like to draw the ball.

I still remember the first time I saw the front side at Augusta. It still feels like a treat when I watch it.

I made the extra effort (without consciously trying) to avoid finding out what happened yesterday and was able to watch all of the CBS coverage unspoiled after I got back from the golf course. Really, really good stuff especially those bombs on the first playoff hole.

Really looking forward to seeing how this week plays out, especially adding Tiger, DeChambeau, etc to the mix.

yeah this week's tournament should be ELITE.

my guess is the current pandemic will actually increase future golf participation to some degree. it was one of the few social activities allowed in many places when most of the country was locked down, especially among younger people. little league baseball was paused in the spring, but those same kids were allowed to go play some rounds with their parents.
I should stop being sarcastic on the interwebs I guess!

i'm a fan

ignoring that bomb of a putt on the playoff hole to cap JTs 50 footer, it does seem he really needs to tighten up his pressure putting. the rest seems to be in really good form. those 230 yard 5 wood approaches stopping within a few feet are sexy as hell.

Once again, I am not against the PGA Tour starting back up. It was how they were going about it.

The golf industry is not the PGA Tour. Golf is indeed a sport that is very suited to being able to play with this particular virus.

Take your COVID discussion somewhere else. This thread is about the PGA Tour and we have Tiger back. Watching the tail end of an epic career. Nicklaus’ record is in sight.

FYI: Live at 2 p.m. (EDT) today on GC ... a 9-hole skins match for charity pitting Finau/Rahm vs The Postman/GMac. Should be a fun watch.

Jeez this week's tournament is stacked. Impossible to pick a winner. Morikawa and JT obv have to be favorites after last week. But also Rory... Webb has been on a roll... as has Berger. DJ looked like his old self a couple of weeks ago, and Cantlay is always a threat. And of course Bryson is a top-5 machine. Should be fun.

LOL ... they loaded GMac's bag with 11 full bottles of water and emptied it out on the last green in front of his caddie. GMac also unhooked the shoulder strap of his bag on #1 tee (without his caddie realizing) and left his caddie in the dust as the group started for the fairway.

As for the match: Finau/Rahm won 8 of the 9 holes (and both closest to pins and the closest to center of the fairway side competitions).

You said it!

That was a fun watch. Watching and listening to the guys in a more casual setting is usually a good time. I wish they had more of these.

Looking forward to watching Morikawa with DCB - bit of a style contrast. As a European, Morikawa is my favourite USA player to rail for atm.

After he missed his first cut last week I was hoping he would win this week once my other picks dropped away.

Tiger played a practice round with Bryson and was hitting the driver 325 Bryson's response was " Not bad for an old man "

Camp out on the couch self imposed quarantine

LOL ... DeChambeau just unleashed a 423 yard drive on the 1st hole (a 473 yards par 4). The longest drives on the hole today before Bryson:

374 - Max Homa
358 - The Norweigan
356 - List

Bryson just imploded and Jack’s head just exploded. That was very poor thinking.

Wow Bryson... lol at "I guess not!" though

“And the golf ball is a very, very simple thing to fix. And I’ve been preaching about it, good gracious, I’ve been preaching about it now – 43 years I first went to the USGA. I mean, that’s a long time to be saying, “Well, we’re studying it.’ Guys, stop studying. Do something, will you please?”

Old man yells at cloud.

I soooooooo wanted Bryson to hit another one OB. That was hilarious.
07-17-2020 , 05:17 PM
It's over either way Bryson... why are you arguing about this?

Breaking: Tiger on the weekend after all

July 23 will mark three years since SPEEF's last win. Here's one reason why:
