Fair play to ROARS... what a year! Poor lad has gray hairs coming in though at the tender age of 30.

15 million buys a lot of hair dye if he cares about that sort of thing. Hell of a 66 given those pins today. Joint best. Clutch putting last 3 holes.

He would have won even under the old system which I assume the PGA are delighted about.

Happy Rory won, what an exhibition with the driver and putter.

Casey comes in 5th and wins $2.5million. What a time to be a pro golfer, just throwing money at them at this point.

Earlier in the week Sky Sports mentioned that this was one of his favourite courses and is rarely outside the top 5 or so. He was probably very unhappy with his Sunday.

ROARS earned $17,704 per hole played during the '18/'19 PGA Tour season. Somebody get on the '19/'20 OP.

He's second best on it total score after Rory last 5 years I think.

Somehow I think Rory's year is underappreciated, probably due to the Open result when he was such a fan favourite.

In 19 events, he was outside the top 10 just *5* times. Three wins, two of which were the Tour Champ and the Players. I think it was as good as Koepka's year if not better.

When their games are on and they are at their absolute best, I don't think anyone touches Rory or DJ for the best in the world.

Yeah Keopka will win POTY because of the major win but I think Rory had an overall better year (although it was close).

I am most impressed by Rory's putting. I always had the image of him as a great ball striker but below-average putter. But he putted great this year I think he ranked 24th in SG.

Koepka posting top 5s in all four majors with a win to Rory’s zero gives him the edge imo but you can certainly argue either

I think for most of his career the great ball striker / iffy putter has been the case for Rory. But if he does have a good putting week he is very hard to beat.

Rory would certainly swap years with Koepka. All about the majors, just like tennis.

But I agree that overall he was the better golfer this year.

You're right. It wasn't even close.

Also:

McIlroy also won the Vardon Trophy, the season-long scoring average title handed out annually. McIlroy is the third player to win the Vardon Trophy three or more times at age 30 or younger, joining Woods and Tom Watson.

McIlroy finished the season averaging 2.55 strokes gained total per round, best on the PGA Tour. In fact, since that statistic has been kept (since 2004), it’s the best season average by any player not named Woods – Tiger had three seasons where he posted a better average (2006, 2007 and 2009).

This was Rory’s 17th PGA Tour win. At age 30, that is the third-most by any player on Tour over the last three decades by players that age or younger. Only Woods (54) and Phil Mickelson (19) had more wins that young in that span.

In the end, Rory really needed this year. After all, he only had one win during the calendar years of '17 and '18.

Woods 54 ROFL.

about time for a new thread. I'll be heading to Greenbrier Thursday to watch Chris Baker play his first event and then I'll be in Vegas for the Shriners. Hope those are easier walking courses than Victoria National.

He's been a terrible putter for most of his career, no surprise once he figured that out (at least for a year) he has one of his best seasons

Pretty bad take all the way around.

Koepka's SG Putting

'19: .226
'18: .168
'17: .581
'16: .445
'15: .421

I think he means Rory's been a relatively bad putter

Reading comprehension for the loss on my end.

two things caught my eye today,

i was googling korn ferry pre-qualifying for 2020 season and i saw that scott fawcett was one of the 30 qualifiers from a site. i don't have it in front of me, but he was 6th or 8th... i thought pre-qualifying was to winnow out recreational low handicaps. but it looks really competitive. and i looked at application and it seems if you weren't a member of a tour in 2019, you are doing pre-qualifying

a canadian woman played in the pga canada event in montreal. right now, she's 1 off the cut at -2. i think the cut line will tighten but pretty impressive....... although i guess the whole idea is that LPGA players can't contend in a PGA event, as opposed to "can't do respectively"... course seemed long enough. this was a former NCAA woman who had little success as pro, partly due to injury

Matt Kuchar continues to batter his already dented reputation with another dubious application of rules and etiquette.

"Matt Kuchar's latest act goes against spirit of the rules."

Apparently anything larger than a match-head is now a loose impediment if you are in a waste bunker and you are Matt Kucher.

He needs to make sure he stays ahead of Bryson in the race for most entitled douchebag.
