The same logic applies in any hazard situation. If the ball could be playable then it's within the player's rights to wait for others to hit who are farther out. If the ball is obviously unplayable in the hazard then it would depend on where the player would be dropping.

In Will's situation, if he was truly debating, had Sepp holed his bunker shot for 4, then Will almost certainly tries to play it. Otherwise he drops.
There was no way he could play that shot . The only place it would go is under the turf or in the water

I don't disagree with the opinion of where the ball was going had he attempted it. But opinion aside, he could have still played the shot. He could have easily gotten a club on the ball. And that's why Sepp went ahead and played his 4th shot.

So any backstory on Scott Fawcett blowing up on the announcing crew? It's obvious the Dan Hicks knows little about golf but I would not expect them to carry the water for DECADE or any other teacher methods.

Assuming Straka had a 2 putt for par I agree Zalatoris plays the shot. But not because he could have easily got a club on the ball, only that it would be his only slim chance of continuing the playoff. If he chooses drop zone game over.

I read Zalatoris admitted his caddie talked him out of the shot, which seems the obvious choice to me if bogey likely wins it. If it were during regulation I have to think DZ would be the choice as well.

Maybe, but only for PR reasons. This stuff happens every 10-20 years, look at ATP. Monahan I'm sure has been consulting with the players' advisory group, so it's not as if he has been acting alone.

Fowler traveling with Tiger, Fowler also had some stern comments towards Monahan today. Will be interesting to see what happens.

In a hypothetical, assume in a match that player A, who has the honor, hits and the ball now rests further away from the hole than the teeing ground. Is player A correct in his/her assertion?

Player B couldn't have been further away as he wasn't in play until he hit his tee shot. Also player B might have hit his tee shot further away from the flag than player A.

They should all send Tiger a 10% piece of their winnings.

I remember when Curtis Strange was vying to be the first Million Dollar Man on tour, late 80's or early 90's. Then he scoffed at newcomer Woods within a few years and his designs on winning and winning and winning. At about the time Tiger turned pro I think Greg Norman was the all-time money leader at ~ 13 mill. I put Tiger on 100 mill ultimately when he was on zero. Seemed outrageous but was actually an under bid.

RIP Tom Weiskopf who famously said of his fellow Buckeye: "Jack knew he was going to beat you. You knew Jack was going to beat you. And Jack knew you knew he was going to beat you."

Weiskopf has the most Masters runners-up (4) of anyone never to have won a green jacket.

Earlier this year, Weiskopf said his greatest regret in life was not being able to play on the LIV golf tour

RIP Tom.
If the greatest regret comment was tongue-in-cheek. Otherwise, n/m.

Followed his group around in Memphis years ago. His then-wife was also following and a huge distraction/attraction in her outfit. IIRC she was a former Miss Wisconsin or something.
