Why does ESPN always show Will Zaltoris (?) position on the leaderboard every tournament? Why do they need to tell me he's #105 at +5 right now??

this **** is unwatchable. the No Laying Up crew mentioned that between 2:17 PM ET until the end of TV coverage yesterday there were 52 commercial breaks. i stopped watching last night and caught up on saved programs on my DVR.

i just shot off an email about it to the USGA: comments@usga.org

edit: thank goodness for the EUROs

To the people saying that the tournament/ course is boring. Imo it's because the course is extremely boring. I've played Torrey a few times and excluding the beautiful vistas the layout is about a 3/10. It's literally just your typical muni, but can be stretched to 7600 yards. To this day after having played it 3+ times I still can't remember all the holes that are not on the water. It's not worth whatever they charge.

The USGA loves it because it is in SO-Cal and has a ton of space where they can set up all the stuff that goes with the US Open.

I tend to agree, the course itself is a pretty uninspired design and the holes aren't super memorable. Which is a shame, since the property itself is incredible. But it's long, can be made quite difficult and meets the USGA's needs.

DeChambeau kicking it into gear, let's see if he can rack up a few more on the 2nd nine.

I'll even say Pebble is a lousy US open course. I'm pumped for The Country Club, and LACC the next 2 years so I can see different courses that I don't see every year on TV. I've played the Country Club a bunch, it'll be fun. Hate seeing courses that get tournaments every year get majors.

Kiawah was so refreshing compared to Torrey, which is just super generic.

Bland course. Bland leader.

Pebble is an exception to that rule for me, it plays so different in June and it's so memorable. Otherwise, yeah.

It always makes me chuckle there are all those cliffs, but I can't think of a hole that they even come into play on. The most daunting hazard on the course is the water on 18.

It is pretty amazing that they put the US Open on this course.

Almost no hazards, no trees in play, no interesting bunkers, no super interesting strategic decisions.

It feels like the type of course for these guys where you've really gotta mess up something around the green to make double, so every single hole is just par or bogey with a few birdies sprinkled in.

and those are the missed putts that have stopped Schauffele from notching a major win.

Zinger is so bad in the booth but not sure that was always the case. He’s just unlistenable now

2nd birdie spree time. Them, they're the birds that commence to going off

Zinger has received some well-deserved criticism on this page, but his "full show off glory mode" analysis of Phil right there was spot on.

Boom! Schauffele's sand shot potentially stopped from going into the hole by coin marker. Like I said way back when, gotta use those super thin spiked markers, ESPECIALLY on this stage... Now he just needs to lose the tournament by one stroke, jk.

Bad break for sure. But you’ll never see a tour player use anything but a coin. What I can’t stand these days is people using a freakin’ big ass poker chip.

So true.

I start every round with two 5p and two 10p coins in my pocket. I use the smaller coin for close in and the larger one for further away so I can find it more easily.

I take two of each so that a) I have a spare if I lose one and b) I can lend one of them to the poker chip guys!

I had a pretty long bunker shot hit a guy’s poker chip in a tournament 2 feet out dead going dead center. I got real frustrated. I’ll always ask those guys to use a flat mark or move it 3 to the left from now on.

I just use flat marks, usually even the small ones. Have never used a coin.

I use a guitar pick since I always seem to have a couple in my pocket.

Richard Bland taking this down would be something.

I'll use a poker chip, but only when I'm not remotely in anyone's way. Otherwise, I use one of the flat markers or a coin.

I'm cheering for him, Would be crazy if he wins, Seems to be in a good place with his swing given his recent results.

Would be quite the story but there's really no chance in hell he's hoisting the trophy tomorrow. Funny enough, he's the 11th current favorite to win on Pinny:
