On the broadcast they speculated that he knew the first test was positive and was waiting on the results of the second test.

But I don’t buy that. I think it was in reference to the end of last year’s Memorial when he was approached by an official after putting out on #18 to discuss the possible rules infraction on #16. His ball was deemed to have moved, he was assessed a 2-stroke penalty, but still won the tournament. He wasn’t so lucky this time.

Not sure if serious or not, so I'll give the benefit of the doubt and assume you're being facetious.

One sportsbook has made a lot of people’s days, however. William Hill Sportsbook announced on Sunday morning that anybody with an outright bet on Rahm to win the Memorial will be able to cash their ticket as a winner at the full amount. Rahm was a 10-1 favorite before the tournament started.

lol at paying out a 10-1 for some free pub

I wonder how renodoc feels about that.

Wonder how much action they had on Rahm. I'm guessing not very much.

I'm guessing they took a 100k hit on him + paying off Cantlay at 20:1 or whatever he was.

Betting outright winners in golf is probably the hardest bet in professional sports...I do it weekly, and it's like setting money on fire.

Sportsbooks aren't stupid...they know that these bettors will return the favor and then some...plus the free publicity and goodwill.

Golf Channel is interviewing Andy Pope, who made it through final qualifying for his fifth U.S. Open today. Guy is a good interview and a nice reminder why Open championships are so great.

Hadley about to pull a Lexi.

That was honestly some of the worst golf down the stretch I've seen on the PGA Tour. English and Hadley both imploded.

Congrats to Higgo though, been tearing it up on the Euro Tour and now he already has a win in his 2nd ever PGA event. Just turned 22 last month.

That was almost demoralizing to watch. I don't think there were any good shots the last few holes.

didn't watch live but just patched together replays from the PGA site to catch up.
predicting Hadley is now soul-crushed and will never contend again...wow, just wow.

Wilco and Nienaber (especially Nienaber) have seemingly effortless power. meanwhile Bryson is swinging out of his shoes to achieve the same thing. the future is coming, and it's not wearing metal spikes.

Old Tom Morris would have been 200 years old today.

and some say he still is.

Interesting. Lucky to say I have paid homage at his grave.

the fairway rough is a joke. should rename this year's USO to the Farmers Insurance Open 2.0 imo.

Course looks difficult and only likely to get more difficult. It's not all about the rough.

Yeah, the days of spraying chemicals to encourage growth of rough (e.g. Carnoustie) are long past.

That Bryson birdie putt was incredible. Live action slo mo!

Something about this course and event is just lacking excitement for me. Course seems kind of dull aside from the ocean scenery. NBC coverage is ho-hum, feels like a regular tour event. Pretty good leaderboard though, nice to see Rory not shoot himself out of it on a Thursday.

meh, 23 players under par when they suspended play y'day during the first round. as i was saying, not exactly USO conditions.

throw this course out of the rotation.

Last year at venerable Winged Foot 21 golfers finished the first round under par. When the tournament was over exactly one guy was under par just like the typical US Open. In 2008 Tiger and Rocco finished at -1, just like the typical US Open.

The USGA doesn’t want it as difficult as 1974 at Winged Foot where nobody broke par the first day and the winning score was +7.

I don't really care about issues like this but there will be less than 5 under par IMO on Sunday evening assuming there isn't any rain and firms up
