NEW-LOOK MUIRFIELD VILLAGE TAKES CENTER STAGE

Poor Rahm. That’s a bad beat.
06-05-2021 , 06:26 PM
When Nicklaus said toward the end of the broadcast, "Rahm still has to finish the tournament" of his prohibitive lead... it sounded weird. He didn't say he has to keep his game together but more like finish the event. Did he know probably? It's a joke to be ejecting players from the tournament over this at this stage. But the PGA known for glacial pace of everything, can't adjust??

It is a joke to watch the last few tournaments with the galleries packed tight with people, and pretty much 99% of them not wearing masks.

If they want to pretend COVID is gone, then this kind of stuff happens...

I mean what is the PGA going to say, "we and our tournament hosts have done everything possible not to create an environment that would support the spread of COVID."

Nah... they were intentionally lax and got bit in the ass in a way that could hardly be worse... having to eject a leader at Jack's tourney.

And Jack had COVID, iirc.

You can bet the non-sports media will focus on the maskless fans all over the place, as they should perhaps..

Reading way too much into normal turn of phrase. What exactly do you propose they do? They can't let him compete with a positive test and they can't just cancel the tournament

And Faldo saying you can't get COVID if you are vaccinated, and no doubt someone talking in his ear saying you need to walk that back Mr. Faldo.....
06-05-2021 , 06:48 PM
I thought they weren't tracking positive tests after vaccination anymore. Awful beat for Rahm
06-05-2021 , 06:50 PM
Maybe he didn't get vaccinated. His wife was pregnant and couldn't get it, so he might have not taken it in solidarity. Wouldn't be a huge stretch. Would have assumed everyone out there was double jabbed by now

Really? What would lead you to this assumption? This is USA#9 after all.

Sports leagues have to stay on top of things and have policies in place. The NFL has said that once 85% of a team's players are vaccinated then certain standards can be relaxed. Shocker though that many teams are finding it difficult to reach this threshold (with acrimony setting in some locker rooms, such as the Bills).

I don’t believe they are routinely tracking anymore. They said on the broadcast he was in the contact tracing program this week because he was in contact with someone who tested positive outside the tournament. That’s why he was being tested everyday
06-05-2021 , 07:13 PM
Is this hub-bub about the Tour not testing already-vaccinated players true?

Either way a ridiculous beat, in line to walk in the win.

Yes and no. If you are vaccinated you are good to go. If you're not, you must have a recent negative test before arriving on-site.

Crazy that today's round was Rahm's career best SG round (+9.41).

It ain't over until it's over.

Do I feel bad for Rahm? Absolutely. Would he be in this position if he were fully vaccinated? Almost certainly no.

Had he been fully vaccinated he would not have been required to test even after close contact with a positive. As of a few weeks ago the PGA Tour relaxed many rules for the fully vaccinated, no masks indoors, not much testing, etc. The unvaccinated still have to jump through tons of hoops.

Yes I realize that's likely, but I think I know why my ears perked up. I've been wondering lately about someone with a big lead in a tournament getting injured an not being able to complete the round. So when I heard Nicklaus' comment, the mystical side of me heard a message about him not actually finishing the tournament. Voia, presto ... it happened. True story all the way around.

Keep in mind Rahm, Nicklaus, the tournament committee, etc. knew this could be a possibility on Monday.

Rahm's team employs a 5-star PR firm:

I'm here for the shitshow.

Get your vaccine, folks.
06-05-2021 , 10:50 PM
He shot 8 under while infected, which basically proves COVID is a nothing burger.
06-05-2021 , 10:56 PM
Qed

But if we punish people for it that will make them need to get it anyway.
06-05-2021 , 10:57 PM
lol Rahm, way to let ASU down

Rahm shooting what he did with the deadliest virus of our lifetime in his body should be way up there with the Jordan flu game. Miraculous performance

Tiger on one leg.
Rahm on one lung
Spoiler:
or on one positive test
06-06-2021 , 01:04 AM
Why did Rahm say "not again" when they told him he tested positive?
