to Li Haotong, the 22-year-old Chinese sensation, who stared down former World Number One McIlroy on the back nine to take down the ODDC.

We knew the kid had chops after his 3rd place finish in last year's British Open, but this is a giant leap forward and a huge confidence boost. I'd be curious to know how big of a story this is in China.

CBS is contractually obligated to show all shots through the completion of regulation play. As a result, 35 minutes of the 60 minutes red carpet show was preempted.

The playoff was aired on the GC.

These tournament hosts have themselves to blame for running out of daylight. Playing 18, then 18 again, then going clear out to 16 cost them enough daylight for at least one and two extra playoff holes shuttling players out to tees.

The 7th tee sits right by the 18th green. When the 2008 US Open went to extra holes that's where they went, and they had all afternoon to sort that one out. They could go 7-8-18 and it would be a triangle just like 10-17-18 in Phoenix. And 7 and 8 are robust holes, every bit as challenging as 16 and 17.

What'd he do on the final hole? I had something to attend to and missed it. Also how many playoff holes have there been? And why the **** did some players start on 10 and thus logjamming the whole thing?

On 18 down 2 with a 238 shot he stood there for 4 minutes deciding between clubs. He decided to lay up?!?!?!?! The group was apparently a hole behind pace already.

Calc came at him pretty hard, which was enjoyable.

Best part was, after taking all that time he totally ****ed up the layup.

Not defending Holmes because I cannot ****ing stand inconsiderate slow play, but his shenanigans didn't likely impact the outcome. It was pointed out how unfair it was to Noren and Palmer, but both ended up in the playoff and one still has a chance to win. And there was nobody behind them to hold up.

So it's a good outcome. Nobody was probably impacted and he'll get the hate he deserves.

I despise slow play, nothing tilts me more while playing. That said it's easy to sit here and criticize but it's big money on the line and Fed ex points, every stroke counts.
