This his is 2nd PGA tournament hes been healthy in since like 2015 and last tourney was a Top 25. Sure hes not as good right this moment but thinking he wont be later this year if he continues to play and there are no setbacks is crazy Tiger.

People always overlook the fact that a healthy Tiger is a multiple win season Tiger. Last time he was healthy realistically was 2013 and he won 5 times.

Nah hes not that old yet and he looks in better golfing shape now than he did 4 years ago. Bit slimmer and speed is way up. Mickelson is 47 and still contending. If his speed wasnt up, Id say age is a bit more of a factor but I dont think thats going to hinder much if hes healthy

history shows us that hitting your 40s in golf is ALWAYS a factor.

Yeah the age thing is so subtle it's tough to tell where/how it starts impacting performance. I mean Phil is 47 and is still right up there with the guys half his age, so who knows. Given how Tiger is swinging and his distances I can see no reason why he can't get back to Top 10 ranking if he stays healthy for the next 5 years or so.

Random observation, was watching the tournament yesterday and Rory was on the cart path on hole #9, and the entire crowd directly behind him was filming him on their smart phones. Like literally, every single person. I must be getting old but the obsession with phones/social media tilts me. No one is filming so they can go home and watch Rory's swing years later. The entire point is to post it on social media and show everyone how close you were standing to Rory McIlroy. Meanwhile they have the best seat in the house on a perfect day, and they are watching one of the top players in the world through their phone's screen. I just don't get it. Like I said, I'm probably just too old and cranky.

Tiger's short game is there this time. It'll be a matter of time if he stays healthy til he starts hitting it decently, then he'll win. Torrey/Riviera are both tight/punishing courses... not forgiving at all for someone who is spraying it.

I'd be more worried about his age if he were putting terribly.

The field is better now and hes 5 years older.

Hes not drawing dead to win a tournament but hes going to be like a 40/1 dog or worse every single week.

Meh... I feel like he’s a favorite to win once in the next two years, which is about what 40/1 is saying is even money. If healthy (always a big if!) 40-1 seems harsh. He’s probably 40-1 playing like he did last week.

Side thought . I think the more high variance holes the better. Holes that average 3.5, 4.5 etc.. Whether those are perceived as "easy par 4's" ,"tough par 4" ,or "easy par 5" produce the most interesting results..

Books didnt even have him as 40-1 this week lol. If Tiger is healthy, hes not 40-1 in any tournament. I think everyone forgets how dominant he really was.

BYK... you need to temper your expectations. a ton has changed in the past half decade when it comes to the game of professional golf. young twenty-something whipper snappers like Rahm, Speef, JT, Hideki, Young Rickie, Koepka, Roars, Fleetwood, etc. now occupy the top of the OWGR. these "kids" weren't around to be dominated by Tiger... there is no intimidation factor there (Tiger isn't up 3 or 4 strokes before the tournament starts from others being awestruck ... those days are over and aren't coming back).

Tiger is a broken man trying to rekindle the magic. but the golf world has moved on without him. will he win some tournaments over the next decade? very likely. will he win another major? my crystal ball says probably not.

Pretty good evidence right there on hole 1 that tiger probably doesn't have a stinger, or at least one that qualifies as a weapon.

Both he and Rory teed off with irons, tiger was in the rough left, Rory drove through the fairway a good 65 yards past him.

I completely agree that the field is better but no one is putting up scoring averages and such like he did. It doesnt matter who is in the field, if Tiger returns to form, he can win alot. He isnt getting near enough credit that he deserves. I think he wins this year without a doubt if he plays 15-20 times. And if he plays that many times, he wins multiple times next year

He has to get this birdie bogey crap gone. Every single time after a birdie he seems to make a bogey. Need an up and down on the par 3

That is actually a good sign. Then Bay Hill 3 weeks after that, and then the Masters 3 weeks after that. If he wants to grind out reps, there's Tampa and Houston between now and Augusta, but odds are he skips those. And of course he's not eligible for the WGCs.

I'm just so happy getting to watch Tiger without sitting here wincing and bracing myself for signs of injuries after every swing.

Lol at people going on about him not being a favourite against the field atm.
