That would have been nice to see, golf channel. i imagine it has to be the all time tour record.

This article says longest drive since 2010 is 463 (DJ, no surprise).

i know the course in reno has that really long downhill par 5, but they usually don't take shotlink there and it does dogleg quite a bit. and i don't remember anything that long from mexico city either.

Mike Austin hit one 515(so they say) at some baked out Vegas course, was a par 4 455 yards that the ball ended up over the green.

No clue if it was really that long due to doglegs or that sort of thing.

never heard of this one, interesting to read up on it. of course, that was not a pga tour event.

the tour weighs in, the longest recorded on any shotlink course:

kapalua, of course, the home of the 400 yard drive.

In the early 90's someone hit a drive at Disney that kept bouncing along a cart path and went a similar distance. It was a decent length par 4 and they had like a full wedge back towards the green. I can't remember who it was though.

It's obviously an impressive drive, but how far is it really? Seems like many of these holes are playing 350+ yard drives for mostly everyone, which you just don't see in the majority of tournaments.

This is awesome, but which few tournaments should I watch this weekend?

DJ should start yelling BOOM when he hits the ball, like Jack "The Hammer" Hamm

I don't see DJ yelling stuff. Maybe he could just do a little hip thrust?

I'm starting with '04, then one of the Tiger wins (not sure which), then may click one in the wayback machine.

Or for the lazy, I guess you could do worse than http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/04/rank...-worst-to-best

Edit: obviously '86 would be a good one, but it's been done.

Whoever wrote that article is probably getting death threats from Canadians for ranking the Weir Masters 75/79.

Even the Canadians think that was too high.

Those rankings are crap. LOL at Phil #3.

They say they like drama, yet they rank Weir #75 after he made a downhiller on #18 to make the playoff. Aren't playoffs drama?

Crap crap crap.

As for the replacement club, it doesn't have to be the same. So if you need a club you don't normally carry mid round, you can just drop a club by accident and step on it, or maybe run it over with a cart, breaking the shaft totally accidentally. You can then replace it with the club you need. This comes in handy at my home course where I like to carry a lot of wedges but the 17th is like 235 yards with winds that are pretty impossible to predict when you're starting the round.
Must get expensive if you break a club every round at your home course.

NBC coverage has been especially brutal this weekend. The lead pbp guy keeps getting names wrong or confusing who hit what shot. It seems like his only job is to highlight the stars in as good a light as possible. Example- in the Kira/Bubba match Bubba hit it into the hazard on 9, ~30 min later someone else was playing 9 and he goes "remember, Aphibarnrat was short in the hazard here...". Perhaps a simple mix up, but it happens so much (and typically to the popular guys benefit) that at the least he's at fault of being bad at his job. Other highlights:

-"Matt Kuchar is one of the clutchest players we've ever seen"

-Kira & Howell III were on 18 AS and both putting for birdie:

"Well Aphibarnrat is putting first but I would bet my life that Howell is away"
"According to our golf tracer Aphibarnrat is actually half a foot out"
"...I'd refuse to putt until they did it the old fashioned way and walked it off"

"Aphibarnrat has had some success on the European Tour and hopes to one day play on the PGA Tour"

Maybe Kiradech's dope attire threw them off their game lol. Regardless, it's been an awesome tournament, really fun to sweat. As someone who watches as much coverage as possible it's just gotten worse and worse lately, and makes it tough to watch.

Agreed agreed agreed.

Jimmy Roberts gets stuff wrong (or says something dumb) all the time.

Peter Jacobsen gets stuff wrong (or says something dumb) a great deal of the time.

Don't even get me started on Ian Baker-Finch.
