It was definitely true as of one point last season. The Cowboys have been a mediocre team ever since he became QB. They've spent a lot of time behind in 4th quarters. I remember reading something at the end of last season that said that the Cowboys were behind in all 16 games last season and still went 8-8.

And yes, it's a stupid statistic. But so is the measuring stick by which his "choking" has come to exist. He's led a few really mediocre teams to the playoffs and gotten beaten by mostly better teams. In the process of leading him to the playoffs he's played lots of very important games and played very well during clutch time, but nobody ever mentions those games.

Last year being a prime example. They open on a Wednesday with every single football fan watching on the road against the defending SB Champs and he goes 22/29, 3TD, 1 INT. The last month of the season they absolutely had to win games against Philly, Pitt and NOR. In those 3 games he went a combined 78/112 for 1060 yards with 9 TD and 0 INT's. Led come from behind drives in all of them. And yet people only want to mention the Redskins game.

I think the "Romo is a choker" thing is overplayed and the "The Cowboys ****ing are a disaster of an organization run by a moron" is underplayed.

Exactly.

There was a point last season where they were literally exactly a .500 team over some enormous amount of years. Like 15 or something.

I don't know he's pretty good at not looking like a choker in big games for the majority then does a great job of making people forget that with 1 play. They are a disaster organization ran by a good businessman with a bad football mind. Playing in a circus ring where road contingency shows up strong usually is funny too. Romo does get too much flack because a lot of times without him Dallas isn't even in the position to win some games, even if he does screw it up in the end from time to time. He needs new scenery. Things are too magnified and over analyed being a QB of the Cowboys. Throw him on a lesser team that doesn't hog a ton of spotlight and people will realize he isn't as bad as so many think.

The season's been pretty entertaining so far, and the snow, an extremely rare occurrence to begin with, delayed one day. Not something that should detract from a couple months worth of tournaments.

Starting to think Mahan v Poulter should be the finale of every Ryder/Presidents Cup. Dudes just don't lose at match play.

Yea no thanks on Mahan as USA's go to match player. Short game is just too weak, if he's not hitting the ball well it's no good too often.

Yea Hunter never hits the ball poorly....

I mean he only made a few small ball striking mistakes in the final round at Northern Trust and should have won that event but surprise surprise his short game cost him down the stretch.

My point is that if Mahan isn't just about the best ball strikers in the field on a given week, he's not winning. And in match play if he isn't striking the ball better than his opponent he probably isn't winning either. His short game can't save him on off days and costs him more than other top players. He's only cracked the top 100 in scrambling twice in the last 2 years with a best of 85th and was 156th last year. That is bottom of the barrel.

And if some of the guys with good short games are striking the ball horribly they aren't winning either.

The bottom line at the end of the day is that he's been very successful in match play formats for his entire pro/amateur career.

Yea in 24 career professional coin flips, Mahan has compiled a pretty decent record(16-7-1). I'll continue to ignore match play records and take the better golfer every single time and currently Mahan isn't the best American so he wouldn't be my go-to guy at the Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup.

I still am unsure of what to expect from Tiger this year. A big part of me thinks its just going to be a big hit and miss Tiger thats gonna get like 4 wins and no majors without really being in contention in all that many events. Hope Im wrong though

Damn, I could have sworn there were 144 golfers in this week's event. Apparently I was mistaken.

Naturally Tiger must be leading the tournament.

Man, they just did a side by side of Rory's swing from his 2011 US open win and today. Swing looked so much better two years ago. Seems to be losing his spine angle this year, he is dipping up and down on both backswing and downswing...not sure why...
