I was thinking Phil's not playing in the Accenture. He's going to play 5 weeks in a row ending at Riviera which is immediately before the match play. At least that's what they said on a telecast recently.

Pebble Beach this week. What insufferable CBS stars are they going to pimp this year? Does George Lopez still have a show? I need to not watch this event until the last two hours on Sunday since all it tends to do is annoy me (and probably not for a good reason either).

I can't stand the celebs and their completely sterile and planned "hijinks" either. I usually follow this one through the online leaderboards until Sunday when they finally show some golf.

A shame it has to be at Pebble, but at least I can appreciate the course on Sunday.

Celebrity anything is terrible. Poker, golf. Doesn't matter. The worst thing ever was when the WSOP would show Ray Romano or that big oaf his brother as the main table. Or Jason Alexander. If it's someone like Tobey Maguire who legit enjoys the game and isn't there to be a cartoon that is different.

I have no problem with seeing guys who hover around scratch or better like Kenny G or Tony Romo playing but these clowns like Kevin James are just the worst.

dude the vast majority of the amateurs there (like most high-end pro-ams) are huge corporate mucky mucks. the scratch player is far and few between at the AT&T. The Kevin James type etc are added ( i.e. invited no charge) because they attract fans and boost ratings. The rest of the ams are paying 10K or more to play. The AT&T is an event as much as its a golf tourney.

Yeah......I get why they bring Kevin James in. Still doesn't mean I have to like seeing him with his backwards Kanga hat on chopping it out of a bunker then throwing his fat arms up like he just found a sandwich.

Just one man's opinion. They aren't targeting me though. I already watch almost every tourney. They are targeting fringe viewers. I get that.

Take a look at NWC's number he cited for 2000-2007: 4.6% per year. Do you think that has to do with the fact that Tiger stopped GOATING and people lost interest in him, or with the fact that the market totally ****ing tanked in the first half of the 2000s?

Hint: Tiger didn't stop GOATING until 2009.

Was there a similar spike in other sports from 97-00?
