This article is lol bad:
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...es-it/2834609/
It purports to set forth a new formula for determining the Player of the Year.
"A win = 1 point; WGC win/The Players = 1½ points. A major = 3 points"
It then totals the points for a bunch of people. Tiger is in the lead with 6.5. Next is Phil with 5. Scott has 4. It goes down from there.
Then the article concludes: "Under this formula, if Woods, Mickelson, Scott or Kuchar win the Tour Championship, he would be the player of the year. Rose (ninth in the standings) and Dufner (20) might need some help to claim the big prize."
Math is completely wrong here. The Tour Championship is not a major or a WGC event. By the formula shown, a win is only worth 1 point. Since everyone is at least 1.5 points behind Tiger, Tiger has it locked up, under their own formula. Did the author even read the formula?
