Very good post. It has become evident since you posted that your Pernice dislike isn't all that random at all.

Where'd you hear Webb's political thoughts? I watch a ton of events so I too have been subjected to the post-round Jesus Is My Copilot garbage, but don't recall politics entering the fray.

I have nothing against Pernice. I was referencing someone else who said they hated Pernice and felt that he was a random dislike.

I used to follow Webb on Twitter and some of the stuff he linked, quoted, etc was borderline ******ed. He is obv entitled to speak his opinions in his forum but I just happen to think his opinions are dum dum

2ONP, do you understand how sports figures work? Fans love to make idols or villains out of them because, like BBB said, it makes viewing more interesting.

Hating a golfer because he cussed 12 years ago isn't the same as hating a regular person for cussing once 12 years ago. You don't just randomly hate Bob from accounting because 12 years ago you saw him spill coffee and he cussed. At the same time, you aren't a "fan for life" of Bob from accounting because you saw him high five a little kid when he was having a bad day.

I honestly can't find a reason to dislike most players- even guys who are lightning rods for criticism like Furyk/Poulter/Bubba. They each have positives at least strong enough to even out the negatives imo.

Yeah I can't bring myself to fill out that thing purely based on the assigned ratings. I think Phil is an awfully swell guy and root for him pretty hard but it's not exactly idol worship. Conversely I (correctly) think Tiger is a huge chode but I don't really think I "hate" him. That's a pretty strong word that's best used selectively.

I used to think that. Phil may be fake, but his hours of signing thousands of autographs puts him at the top of the fan friendly players and Tiger remains near the bottom. Can you imagine Tiger visiting the Nike office, like Phil did Calloway, letting everyone hold the trophy, taking pictures, etc. I can't.
