Is it me or are driving averages down a bit this year? The long drivers are averaging like 306 or less and it seems like 1-2 years ago they were above 310?

OK that 190 yard 9 Iron out of the fairway bunker just barely over a lip was pretty damn serious business. That's probably a shot where Woodland is the only one in the field who could hit it, I really doubt Bubba or Tiger gets it there

Driving averages don't mean much, they only count 2 holes that run opposite of each other so half the time the guys aren't even using driver.

Went today, had a good time altho probably spent too much time at the impossible-to-read 17th green, which yielded all of 2 birdies the entire time we were there.

Better/worse than 72.5 for Chappell tomorrow?

All the stats are available at pgatour.com.

But yes, driving distance is down this year, and it's really at a 5 or 10 year low, depending on if you look at the top distance or top distances.

I'm going to pull something out of my ass and guess that the weather anomaly this year on Tour, with more events than normal having rain delays, has deflated the driving distance stat.
