Or they could be in Scotland.

Personally, I've never noticed.

I don't mind the playoff format. It's the playoffs, and the best player of the season is not going to win the cup every year. It's just like in every other sport. 'Mericans love their variance

For those who might not know.

In most professional golf events tee times are done as follows for the first two rounds. (things can be different in limited field events)

Morning wave, half the field, tee off on both 1 and 10, times between 730 and 930. Give or take thirty minutes.

Afternoon wave, half the field, tee off on both 1 and 10, times between 1230 and 230. Give or take thirty minutes.

If a group tees off Thursday at 730 off #1, on Friday they will tee off at 1230 off #10.

Therefore, if a group is teeing off at 5pm there's been a delay somewhere along the line.

Yes, that's pretty standard stuff. I've never noticed it on a delay, but of course I'm usually working on Thursdays and Fridays.

It does seem a bit much, but it really can't be much less or else they couldn't have 4 events.

I don't mind either but I think the system was better before Vijay won it and they adjusted to make the tour championship more valuable again

I'm probably in the minority, but golf does not need a playoff format. Just have the Cup go to the best golfer of the year. I don't think a casual fan is watching simply because now it's the "playoffs". Golf attracts a certain type of audience that does not need gimmicks to be entertained. I mean we hit a tiny ball as far away from as we can, and then we go walk after it. Doesn't get much more remedial than that.

No, they are watching because you have massively loaded fields playing each week. Historically, this time of year was a dead time for the Tour. Go look at TW's schedule from 10 years ago.

The playoff system, with a $10 million payday, is a great way to get those fields.

I knew FedEx cup points were different during the playoffs. I didn't realize they were 5 times more than regular events.

How is the prize ladder in fedex cup?

For places 11 on down, the prize money goes entirely into a retirement account. For the top 10, most of it is in cash, with a smaller portion into the retirement account.

FedEx scoring system is like when you were beating your brother 11-2 in wiffleball and in his last at-bat he declared "next home run is worth 10 runs".

In the case of the Web.com Tour, the ending series will consist of four tournaments, to be held during the main tour's FedEx Cup playoffs, called the Web.com Tour Finals. A total of 150 players will be eligible to compete in the Finals—the top 75 on the Web.com Tour regular-season money list, plus the players finishing between 126 and 200 on the FedEx Cup points list. Because some of the PGA Tour players will be exempt by other means, such as tournament wins in the previous two years, the Finals field is not expected to consist of all 150 eligible players. A total of 50 PGA Tour cards for the following season will be awarded at the end of the Finals—25 to the top regular-season money winners on the Web.com Tour, with the remaining 25 determined by total money earned during the Finals.

Also, starting in 2013, the PGA Tour's qualifying school will grant playing rights only for the Web.com Tour.

Finally, the Web.com Tour will provide up to two entrants in the following year's Players Championship. One invitation will be extended to the player who tops the regular season money list. The golfer who tops the money list during the Finals will also receive an invitation, but only if he did not also finish atop the regular season money list.

The playoff format sucks. The fact that someone can win the first 3 events and get 2nd in the Tour Championship and can still lose the Fed Ex Cup is absolutely ridiculous

That's like saying a Pro Football team that wins all it games during the regular season and wins all its playoff games but loses the Super Bowl is in a system that absolutely ridiculous.

If Tiger wins the next 3 and gets 2nd at east lake, as long as the top 5 dont win, he should take the fed ex cup. Could be wrong..

Lot of variance in football game to game but a **** ton more variance in golf tournament to tournament

They should just award the FedEx Cup by height

No that is correct but the fact that one can win the first 3 events and get 2nd because someone went 3rd 2nd 5th 1st is just stupid.

Alot of people will disagree and they are trying to keep it entertaining. I just think it is ridiculous. I agree the Tour Championship should be worth alot of points but not enough points to where someone wins the first 3 events gets 2nd in the last one and loses

Not at all. Because the team they are playing against in the Superbowl also won all their playoff games... Golf is different. Can only can be 1 winner in each event. In football plenty of teams go like 12-4 and like 14-2 and then win all their playoff games and lose in the Superbowl but they arent the only team to do it as in golf only 1 person has done it
