I didn't think it was such an obvious choice, but either way I thought the amount of attention given to it at the start of yesterday's broadcast was fairly excessive, capped with Nantz transitioning with something like "well it's not nearly as important in the grand scheme, but let's talk about the golf". gag. We really didn't need the agent reading the statement either, what exactly did we expect Mahan to say? "Hey I was looking for any excuse to get out of here even with the lead so thanks to my wife for her water breaking three weeks early. PS LOL CANADA"?
Regarding today's broadcast, McCord inexplicably made the OB on 17 seem like it was way farther to the right than it was. Sure, for pros it's quite a miss to hit it there but it's not too far off the fairway and the wind was blowing that way. The notable thing wasn't that it happened at all as much as a guy who did it had a share of the lead with two holes to go.
