Not that there's anything wrong with that.

There is a decent chance that Boo retires from golf soon, especially if he wins again. He's stated that he'd do so if he had money to fish and hunt everyday, he's got to be getting close to that goal with this win.

Stories from today:

-Watched Franklin Corpening shoot a 62 today, move up to 14th and pocket 112k. Pretty huge deal for him. He was in my grade in 3rd grade and I played some interclubs with him. Cool to see the local kid have success. Think he gets into next week with a 14th?

-Saw Jordan Spieth hit his bunker shot on 17 and it was ******ed. Uphill lie, 140, overhanging tree, pin tucked. I estimated that if I were hitting that shot I would be lucky to get it around the green, would hit the lip a good percentage of the time, and on average would hit it fat, 75 yards short of the green. He hit it to 3 feet.

-Saw Ryan Palmer & Jim Nantz at dinner. Jim Nantz was the table next to me. There is something weird about seeing Jim Nantz in real life because I've never really considered him a human.

I'm pretty sure him and Costas are robots.

Not on the big boy Tour. Only top 10 get to next week, top 25 on Web.com

And the ****** of the week award on the PGA Tour goes to Jeff Overton.

He used an artificial putting aid on the putting green at the turn

I thought it was top 15. Oh well, I'm sure he'll get some sponsor's invites now and 112k is a nice day.

Think Stallings actually has decent game, but has melted down twice already this year on Sunday.

While I do think Overton is a ******, that rule was kind of weird and I don't blame him for not knowing it. It seems strange that you can go to the practice green in the middle of a round and roll putts but using an alignment stick while doing it results in DQ.

He's that guy that won a couple years ago and flung his putter down

Watching the Boo post-game interview, I love this guy so so so much. Is there any other player that refers to media personalities as "sir"?

If anyone is looking for a Merion preview, they are replaying the 1981 us open tomorrow at 8pm on the golf channel. Not sure if it's the final round or the playoff between Trevino and Nicklaus.

Thanks for the reminder - I saw them mention that a couple days ago and forgot to DVR it.

EDIT: DVR just said it was the '71 Open though, not '81.

Pretty cool wiki says the famous Hogan photo was taken at this course at the 1950 Open. (I'm sure you all know this but I didn't.)

hrmm, I just looked it up and it seems you're right. The 1971 open was Trevino vs Nicklaus in an 18 hole playoff, so that makes sense.

I was thinking Nicklaus probably didn't even contend in the '81 Open, but I was wrong (T6).

Always amazing how well Nicklaus did in the majors, but who knew (other than BO) that Nicklaus was 35/40 in top tens in the 70s? Never finished out of the top 7 at Augusta and in the top 5 every year at the (British) Open, part of his 15 year run of top 6 finishes at the BO.

Yeah, he's impressive.
Was also impressive to see the guy he beat in the playoff come back and qualify yesterday for the US Open at the same venue (diff course)

The course looks great on TV and the field is strong. And Jack looked like he was gritting his teeth so hard last year when TIGOAT won that he could have shattered them. Great tourney.

Does Memorial still use the furrowed bunker rakes?

I was reading the thread and wondering why no one brought him up when they were coming up with comparisons for Spieth. Before this win I thought he was under-hyped, considering he's won his first Euro tournaments younger than Rory won his first. Maybe that will change now.

It seems like Mannasero has been around for a while already. I forget how young he still is, and the American media isn't stuffing him down our throat like they are with the Golden Boy from Texas.

What's the deal with Ryo Ishikawa? The media was in love with him for a while but I guess he's not doing much. I think he shot a 58 on a par 70 course. I know he's hugely popular in Japan but I don't think he's done anything much of notice on the PGA Tour yet.

Bud Cauley was hyped pretty good when he got on Tour because he's so small and murders the ball but I don't think he's done a lot outside of a handful of top-10s or so (off the top of my head). It's just not easy for a young guy to come out and dominate. It's unbelieavable that Rory basically walked away with 2 majors by 8 strokes.
