These guys are no-names to all but the most 'core fans and golf is boring to watch alone. I know about them, but don't really care until they establish some kind of record which vaults them elite status. That status is achieved by how they fare in the majors, casual fans don't care about who won at the minors.
Maybe I offended you because you're obviously a 'core fan of the game. If that's the case sorry bro. The televised golf tournaments are simply more exciting when you can enjoy them with others. Most people, sadly just don't get golf.
In the end it's good for the game when actual greatly perceived players are in contention on the weekend. The proof is in the ratings.
Think about it. What if there was more than one Super Bowl or World Series per year. Who would show up at the games? Nobody but the most 'core fans and that's how it works for golf too.
Sadly, golf just isn't popular enough to support the number of tournament broadcasts per year. I wish it was. That's why I'm enthusiastic on the weekends when there are major contenders in the lead.
During the weeks when there are minor contenders and fewer major contenders in the hunt, tournaments suck and aren't worth watching. Unless you're 'core which is cool too, because I'm obviously 'core.
