Also, so funny that they were just explaining what an elite field this is and then they show Robert Allenby, who I think has made one cut this year. What, David Duval, Jon Daly and Jason Gore had weddings to attend this weekend?
Nice. That's nice.

When's the last time one of these no-names like Castro didn't choke after a hot opening round? Nice 78 today lol!

At least this weekend is going to be worth watching, so tired of watching the scrubs gag it in on Sunday. Sometimes I think there is just too many tournaments on the schedule. I'd be really nice if the tour would just take a few weeks off a couple times per year rather than keeping the minor events on the schedule.

Ever hear of Russell Henley, John Merrick, Michael Thompson, Scott Brown, Billy Horschel, or Derek Ernst before this year? All these no-names have 2013 PGA tour wins.

To be fair, people would know Thompson from last year's US Open, and Merrick has been a consistent pro for a number of years now with some decent finishes in majors.

You are coming off as a giant tool btw. HAHA THAT GUY DID **** WHAT AN IDIOT! really? A bunch of "scrubs" go on to be great players. Not everyone is Tiger, they can't come in with all the hype surrounding them and exceed the hype.

Nothing to do with him but I wish they would toughen this course up a bit. Winning score the past few years has been -12 to -16 and this year will be no different. Hard to call yourself "the fifth major" when it scores more like Phoenix than Oak Hill. Yeah, having four reachable par-5s is going to affect scoring (well, the 9th isn't really much of an eagle opp but it doesn't have much peril either) and that's great but they could grow the rough and firm up the greens a little. Love the layout but want to see more players punished for being out of position.

There are some legit tough holes - the 3rd, 8th, 14th, and 18th come to mind - but in between are a lot of laydowns.
wait until the weekend and the greens dry out. any kind of wind its brutal. Duval won in '99 at -3 shooting 74,73 on the weekend.

Scott Brown won an alternate event, but ok I'll give it to you, Ernst too of course, 1207th FTW.
But those who've never heard of Russell Henley, John Merrick, Michael Thompson or Billy Horschel before were probably suprised when this odd Dufner guy won in Louisiana last year and might have called Charl Schwartzel a south african no name when he was 4 shots back of Rory 2 years ago... The hell with casual fans, they deserve people to go all BO on them.

Never heard of Castro until he made the web.com top 25 tho.

These guys are no-names to all but the most 'core fans and golf is boring to watch alone. I know about them, but don't really care until they establish some kind of record which vaults them elite status. That status is achieved by how they fare in the majors, casual fans don't care about who won at the minors.

Maybe I offended you because you're obviously a 'core fan of the game. If that's the case sorry bro. The televised golf tournaments are simply more exciting when you can enjoy them with others. Most people, sadly just don't get golf.

In the end it's good for the game when actual greatly perceived players are in contention on the weekend. The proof is in the ratings.

Think about it. What if there was more than one Super Bowl or World Series per year. Who would show up at the games? Nobody but the most 'core fans and that's how it works for golf too.

Sadly, golf just isn't popular enough to support the number of tournament broadcasts per year. I wish it was. That's why I'm enthusiastic on the weekends when there are major contenders in the lead.

During the weeks when there are minor contenders and fewer major contenders in the hunt, tournaments suck and aren't worth watching. Unless you're 'core which is cool too, because I'm obviously 'core.

It's a fair question in a golf forum about the PGA Tour.

Tiger getting it regularly and in prime condition spells trouble for the tour. If he gets some on the side and his PED supply holds up he may be unstoppable.
