The 1996 players was an entertaining watch for sure! One of the last tournament in the pre-Tiger era where Fuzzy was still relevant and cool as ****. Where Phil was still playing without a cap/visor and hitting it stiff using the Yonex irons with graphite shafts. The Great Big Bertha and the Burner bubble were ruling the world. David Duval had yet to win on tour and was perceived as somewhat weak mentally coming down the stretch...2 years later he would be the world number 1 haha.

Most importantly, I didn't hear a single ''Get in the hole'' from the tee box or even from around the greens...

Well, to the last part I was part of an online golf community for Links LS around that time and specifically remember bitching in the forums there after the 1997 US Open at Congressional how annoying the "get in the hole" people were, so if it wasn't an issue at The Players in 1996 it was right around the corner.

Final pairing that day was Tommy Tolles and David Duval. This was a good three years before Duval had that huge breakout stretch, was surprised to even see him contending then.

I don't understand Phil. He disappears for months at a time then comes out and dominates a single tourney then disappears for months again.

After his play in Phoenix it looked like he was pinpointing his wedges and was on cloud 9 wrt his new controllable driver. Then, yeah, he totally disappeared.

It's a shame about these greens because otherwise this course looks great. It plays well on TV. Somebody hit like a 30 foot putt today that was the correct speed and like 8 feet from the hole it hit a bump in the green and hopped up and stopped like 6 feet from the hole. Faldouche gave it the ol' "Ahhhhhh, hit a little spike mark there." lol no.

I never liked the Jesus lovin' shanker but I really hate him now after seeing him take a little swing at the green and taking a divot with his long ass putter. Surprisingly nobody called him on that...we know the greens are terrible but cmon stfu and move on. Everybody is getting ****ed, hit it closer u prick.
