If not for the LOLs he obviously wouldn't be near as memorable. But he also wouldn't be in a position where people care about his LOLs without the major championships.
I really do think in 30 years people will still talk about Daly being like a 7th alternate or something and taking down the PGA. What was a more memorable story in golf during the first half of the 90's? I can't think of anything. The Ryder Cup at Kiawah is still talked about I guess.
In 30 years Kenny Perry's name will only be brought up by future NitBo's in reference to someone else who ends up playing much better in his 40's than 30's, or in reference to someone skipping The Open to play the John Deere or whatever Kenny did that year.
