Thread confirms finale lacked any sizzle. Nice finish for Stenson, who deserves this and a multiple win season after having played insanely well for three months.

Luckily Stenson goated th/fr/sa so I didn't even bother to watch today and instead was able to drink and watch football. How many did he win by?

Interesting tidbit regarding Stenson, he didn't qualify for the WGC event at Doral, instead he played that week in Puerto Rico. I wonder how many players (if any) since the advent of the FedEx Cup have played in the Tour Championship and the Puerto Rico event the same year?

Wonder if he'll get any votes for POY?

C-VAGGITY'S VAG MUST BE SO SANDY AFTER HENRIK STENSON WON THE TOC AND SHIPPED THE FED EX CUP AND $11,440,000 PAYDAY TODAY. U MAD BRO? U MAD.

No shame in my game.

I couldn't see anyone voting for Stenson as POY unless they have some serious recency bias going on. Tiger is the obvious choice but if you really think some players are going to not vote for him out of spite then they're picking Phil or Stevie Williams

I guess I know little about golf. I know tiger won 5 times this year but what Stenson did the last part of the year was quite impressive. I know he finished very well in the last two majors and even the last three. how is he not the favorite? he shipped them manies.

Pretty easy. Tourneys are assigned point values for winning so Tiger easily won that. Now to the voting of the players, Tiger will probably win. I mean he won 5 times in 16 events, led scoring average, led money list, etc. Really not all that close. Only reason people may think it is, is because people expect Tiger to win 2 majors a year and 10 tournaments

Stenson would easily win Player of the Summer. But there is no Player of the Summer award. It's Player of the Year. Tiger clearly had a better year. People keep acting like 5 wins in a year is not a big deal. 5 wins is more than Stenson has his entire career. Only 2 other people have even had a 5 win season in the last 30 years.

Nit: Tiger didn't win scoring average. Tiger won the Vardon trophy for lowest scoring average for someone who played 60 rounds. But Stricker won the Byron Nelson award for lowest scoring average for someone who played 50 rounds. Stricker was 0.04 strokes ahead of Tiger.

The 10 million for the FedEx Cup is not official money. For the complete list go to pgatour.com and look at statistics.

As BO said, the $10 million bonus doesn't count as "official" money. Tiger's official money total is $2.2M over #2 (Stenson).

If they counted the FedEx Cup bonus as "official" money then whoever won the FedEx Cup would win the money title every year.

Don't forget they don't get the 10m. It's a retirement annuity if some kind.

No. The $10m is an immediate payment, the rest are deposited into their retirement accounts.

Interesting and I think genius play by Ed Loar on the Web.com tour this week. He has good status as I think the third place finisher for the season and is in good standing in the web playoffs. However without a win he can't win the playoffs which is really his oly upside as the #1 guy from the playoffs is fully exempt. So rather than play this week for a mere $1M he is taking the week off to spend with his wife and triplets to rest and get ready for the 2013-14 season that starts in just 2 weeks.

Really smart IMO to take a break and then play for $6M in a few weeks rather than one measly million this week. Of course I. Not sure spending a week at home with triplets is exactly relaxing, but I am interested to see how many other guys do the same thing. Not really what the Tour was looking for I bet.
