That's what I said. From his angle, it may not have looked like it moved. If he is unsure, he should check with an official though.

I'm pretty sure quite a few players today would call it on themselves though, if they think there is a chance it moved.

Yeah, it took me two watches to see, but it did move and didn't seem to move back to where it was.

Didnt Tiger say he thought the ball just oscillated?

If so, when youre moving a stick like that around your ball that's exactly what youre looking for as a professional golfer. It all comes down to his word vs the video and the rules committee went with the video evidence.

It definitely sucks for Tiger bc im sure there's alot of other guys on tour that haven't gotten penalized for the exact same thing just bc there weren't hundreds of cameras around with them. I guess its just the ****ty part of being numero uno.

To say he might not of seen is it is just unrealistic though

lol, what is an official suppose to do? the official is going to put it back on tiger to judge if it moved or not.... or do we expect that he is going to send out a tweet asking for video?

this after the fact call-in video crap is amateur-hour.

if tiger or any other player other than monty in that situation says the ball oscillated, it oscillated. end of story.

CBSsports.com has a great up close regular speed video. It clearly shows him removing a rock or wood chip then he goes in close next to his ball very carefully starts to remove a twig then realizing oh **** this ball is gonna roll if I move this and leaves it be.

Would be funny if there was some rich hater who followed Tiger around from tourney to tourney carrying binoculars and staring at his ball at all times.

Would this be allowed or would Tiger be able to throw the guy out as a "stalker"?

No, it's not. When I looked up the video to watch it, I was really to blister him for cheating, because if it's clear enough for a rules official, it should've been clear enough to him, but after I watched it, it's clear that the camera was looking at the ball from ground level and the mm or two that it dropped when he touched the stick might not have been visible to someone standing directly above the ball. Completely realistic thank you.

Oh wow, just saw TW video. To me it actually looks like it rotates back, not just drops. Gross, have a hard time believing he didn't see that movement.

I think it's lame, but it's a risk when you go down there moving stuff around.

But didnt he say the ball oscillated? He's indicating he saw some movement, but not enough to warrant a penalty. Apparently they thought the video showed something different

calling penalties on himself...

No other sport/activity/competition has this pointless pixel-hunting for movement to penalise competitors.

Rules are rules, you don't have to agree with them, but you do have to follow them. And this is what separates golf from other sports in a good way.

Technology has greatly assisted golf and golfers in a variety of ways, nothing wrong with it working both ways. He knew he was taking a risk in removing those loose impediments, don't feel sorry for him. He could have just left them there.

It does strike me as odd that Tiger has been penalized three times so far this year on infractions he had zero clue about. And that's not counting the incident at The Players with his drop that people were howling about. Of course if he could keep the driver in play he wouldn't have to worry about any of it.

He admits to seeing it move, he just believes that it went back to its original position.

Thinking he didn't see it move is pretty lol. The way he popped up like that he knew something happened. Also he's 2 feet away and its critical that he watches whether it moves or not. The fact he is saying he saw it move and thought it moved back is more plausible but still leaves room for doubt. Really wish is was someone else tbh. If it was Vijay they would probably be having a roast right now.

I guess he never cheated on his wife either. The adult film stars and waitresses just "oscillated" around him while he lay in bed
lol to good

Surprised to hear you say that as I thought that what the ball did could easily be described as "oscillating".

I have seen balls move much more than that when guys ground their club behind a ball sitting in deep rough and it's always referred to as "oscillating".

How can he say it moves back to it's original position, imo, it's pretty blatant.

Tiger clearly saw the ball oscillate as he was about to move the stick so he left it there. This is getting to the point of ridiculous. And it's Very debatable as to whether or not that ball moved position. He should skip the last event and make his own tour just to say **** you to the PGA.

You should get your eyes checked. It isn't even debatable.

Also Tiger and Sergio paired tomorrow. This event just keeps delivering.

Moving and moving position are two different things. If they called this on Gary player he never would have broken 80. And Sergio is a non factor nothing to get excited about.

It moved position.

You either need glasses or are wearing rose colored ones.

Please confirm which.

You know that Tiger and Sergio are good friends right?

I'm a huge Tiger nuthugger, but come on man that ball moved and Tiger knew it immediately. IMO it looks as though he saw it move and stopped everything assessing whether or not anyone else saw it as well, then went about his business.

Pretty messed up iyam.
