congrats to tiger for pulling off the "f, it...i'm just going to drop here" with a 2 shot lead on national television. That ball didn't sniff land after 30 yards.

by the way i hit a 4 iron right at the pin from 180 yards today and never found it. I dropped in a bunker and played from there. I assume tiger would've just dropped it 5 feet away.

Fastest he's ever gotten to 4 Tour wins in a season(yes, including GOAT 2000).

More FedEx Cup points already than last year entering the playoffs and he was #1 heading into the play offs.

Most individual PGA Tour wins in history.

The list goes on.

Lol haterzzzzz.
The Players Championship is always my favorite major of the year.

While BO can be pretty pompous, he is correct (mostly). Clapping when someone puts in the water is not cool. Sergio whines. He isn't a rapist (like other sports). He didn't kill anyone (like other sports). He didn't head-hunt or take a knee out. He just whined. There's no reason to clap when someone hits a bad shot. You can clap at home. You can be happy inside, but there just isn't any reason to basically rub it in his face in person.

Obviously golf is called the gentleman's sport. While it's ridiculous to expect everyone to follow the behavior of the gentlemen of yesteryear, it's not too much to expect the fans to act with more class than most other sports. It's no different than tennis in that respect. Clapping for misses or poor shots are not good behavior in that sport either.

What are you talking about? I wasn't bragging at all, and if you read the post you'd see that I said 1 american out of 7 and the exception was Tiger.

I did fine.

NBC may only have shown the one replay in order to deter someone from phoning in

I've been critical of TW's closing in tournaments this year, and still think this weekend wasn't quite vintage, but was definitely better. The weather delay yesterday morning was good for him, was pretty shaky through first few holes. And then yesterday was just a little off as well, not as sharp as Thur/Fri. Shot on 14 was wtf obv and then shortsiding himself on 15 wasn't good either. But the two shots he hit on 18 were a really really good sign obviously, even if leaving the putt short was a little goofy. Think that was like his B game still, the A game hasn't been out for all 4 days yet. All in all, goat gonna goat.

Other thoughts:

The people complaining about the drop are lol. Especially those comparing it to Phil's. I know camera angles are hard to understand, but TW's ball started right and hooked, it wasn't a straight pull. Where he dropped was like 60 yards back from where the ball splashed, seems pretty reasonable for a big duck hook.

Lol Sergio and all, but I thought he was great in his interview after Sunday's round. Very gracious and honest.

He explained it in his interview post round. The shot from the drop zone is harder to that pin than just replaying it.

Man, so sad I wasn't near a computer all weekend to chime in on this thread.

So sad to admit that I agree with a point that Brandel made on Live at the PLAYERS last night.

When talking about Sergio -- Brandel pointed out that we as fans and the experts in the industry always judge a player's potential by his physical stats and his swing. It's unfair. We SHOULD judge a player by all characteristics, including mental make-up and toughness. Sergio, for instance, just wasn't born with the calm that Tiger possesses and it ultimately hinders his ability to win. It's not necessarily choking, it's just who Sergio is.

With that said, what a helluva Championship. Tiger is even more must-watch TV the remainder of this season. He hit so many good putts this week that barely missed. I'm sure those will all come together in atleast one tournament this year and he wins by 8+

Never know but the shot he did hit from the drop was incredible.

Heck BO , myself and leo yeah but Phil? Why Phil or are you just a Phil Hater? As for the fans clapping after Sergio hits in the water I have no issue with that. I know Id be clapping if Tiger did it.

Then why can't he post "those people clapping are not cool"?

Instead, he has to be an elitist prick for the eight thousandth time and post something that looks like this:

"You all laughing at those clapping at Sergio are ignorant, inbred idiots who have no respect for the history of the game or those of us who play it the right way."

Only his rant is like 4 times longer, just saying more of the same. His key points are always:

1) I am better than you.
2) I know more about golf than you.
3) I'm better at golf than you.
4) I define people by how good they are at golf.
5) I define class by how good people are at golf.
6) I read books about people who played golf 150 years ago and that makes me better than you.
7) I am better than this forum.
8) I should take my extensive golf knowledge, etiquette, and diplomacy to some other forum because you are not worthy of my posts.

ad nauseum.

Tiger's next two tournaments are going to be The Memorial which he is defending and has won 5 times, followed by the US Open at a course that sets up really well for him.

HELLO WORLD

Both Sergio and Tiger are both immature and don't handle themselves well at all. They are like 12 year olds.

That being said I don't think Sergio really choked on 17...at least on the first shot. It was, what, a few yards short? I don't know why you go at the pin there anyway.

he might make 6 there from the tee, then he probably misses on 15.

Angles, how do they work? I'm sure someone way smarter than me can figure it out exactly, but if the blimp was to the right of 14 it would skew the look pretty dramatically.

Also, lol at can't hit a high hook.

I like how he said it was a good shot, just a little short. lol no. Whatever he needs to help him sleep at night I guess.

Meanwhile TIGOAT is hoisting another trophy and the Jack crowd is cowering under they momma's skirt.

Tiger turned away from the shot's progress in disgust and probably had little clue where it last crossed.

I doubt his good friend Sergio would have been as accommodating as Wittenberg over the drop.

According to shotlink it hit water 225 from the hole. From the blimp it clearly splashed at least 20, more like 25 feet away from land. he drops 251 away from the hole. Highly unlikely it could have last crossed over that point.

Rolfing's first account of the ball flight was clear that it did not cross where Tiger dropped it. And Rolfing watched it, not Tiger.

Although the blimp's view was at an angle and not directly overhead, what it does show is that the ball was not on an exaggerated hook path that could justify where Tiger dropped it.

This is not a discussion of "still makes a 6 so no difference", it is a discussion of why the proper drop was not taken, and why a lot of people bactracked and stopped conversing about it.

And this is not a Tiger thing. I expect the crew would have done the same thing with any player. It is a judgement call for which the player is responsible. And if his fellow competitor is fine with it, then no penalty can be assessed.

Roger, so all of this is a lie? Especially the bolded?

Quote:
Mark Russell, the PGA Tour's vice president of competitions and a rules official who was involved in a recent dispute involving a Woods drop at the Masters, said his staff reviewed the situation and said, ultimately, you have to go with the player, his caddie and the other players in the group.

"They both saw it," Russell said of Woods and Wittenberg. "They're back there with a television commentator [NBC's Mark Rolfing], who basically agreed with them. He said he hit a high hook. The problem is on television, that area looked the same, and they thought he dropped up there where it splashed. He dropped it 60 yards back of that. The players had the view of it."
