Most forgettable Masters for me in recent memory is the one that Cabrera won.

MBN to totally misplay a punch shot on 18 and it ricochet off a tree and into the middle of the fairway.

Once again, he does not get to decide what metric society uses when measuring the GOAT golfer. You still don't get this.

If Jack Nickluas was wont to say "It's all about the Open Champhionships", would you say Harry Vardon (6), Watson (5), Thomson (5), Locke (4), Hagen (4), Taylor (5), Braid (5), Park Sr. (4), Morris Jr. (4), Morris Sr. (4) are all better than him because he only had (3)?

6, 5, and 4 are larger numbers than 3.

ARC has a point for sure but we all know people dwell on majors but define significant. When someone is losing 9 of 10 major categories and people still consider them the GOAT significant isn't the word.

It's this whole lame position of "the only goal in his sights" "the only goal Tiger was ever worried about [is the majors]", etc. It's meaningless what is in Tiger's sights or what he is worried about attaining.

A bunch of data points are analyzed to make a rational decision about who the best golfer ever is. Tiger could go so far as to say "regular tour stops simply don't matter" and we'd lol @ him and we would still count his 63 regular wins just the same.

PSA: they played in Houston last week in San Antonio this week. Although that is a slight departure, as Houston used to be the week immediately before Augusta - their pitch to players was that they'd set up the greens and surrounding areas as close to Augusta as possible so they could use the event to prepare. Somehow San Antonio got stuck in there. I think that used to be in late April around the two Dallas events, not sure how/why the change. A better question is whether players still hate the TPC San Antonio or whatever it's called, evidently it's like 7700 yards of being kicked in the nuts.

Mostly I am bummed that I don't get into the Players like I used to before they moved it. I absolutely understand the move from a weather and scheduling standpoint, but it loses a lot of luster coming after the Masters instead of before. Used to be it was the first legit event of the year, and the first big event since the previous September, an appetizer before the main course. Now it's like an appetizer after the main course, when I'm not as hungry.

Apparently Houston and Valero agreed to flip this year as some deal that Valero wouldn't finish on Easter Sunday. Next year Houston goes back to the week immediately prior to the Masters.

As i've stated before, major wins are not the only thing that goes into it. I know Tiger does not get to decide what metric system the fans use to determine greatness. lol

What i have held onto and stated multiple times is that major championship finishes(most importantly wins) do hold the most weight when it comes to measuring greatness, but thats just my opinion. You can have yours.

It might be meaningless to you, but that doesn't change the fact that its cool to sweat something like that in. Thats why i said it would be great to see him win at Augusta, one step closer to the goal.

Its literally the only metric you have brought up? What other metrics do you think goes into it? Tiger crushes Jack in all the other metrics which is why you fail to believe in any other metric

Maybe for casualfans like yourself.

Call me crazy, I enjoy the SHO. It's not often you get to stand 10 feet from Rory McIlroy when he's hitting a 150 yard approach shot.

the winner of Valero, if not otherwise in the Masters' field, is extended an invite.

Well that's your neck of the woods, so you are pumped, and rightly so.

Yeah they said this a bunch of times last week, but I guess some people weren't watching for some reason.

Also, gnp, . Hope this helps.

I dont have to talk about other metrics that go into it. I understand that Tiger's stats for the most part are better than Jack's.

What I am trying to say is that with all of those stats combined, it doesn't change the fact that in the most important category he still trails Jack.

Nobody is right or wrong here and we shouldn't have to back up every thought or view we have with some random article off the internet or some stat that says this or says that. People have different opinions. You act like the people who support Jack are the scum of the world. Just take it easy...

I'm done arguing about it. Lets just have our own opinions and move on. FIDO

Yeah Im fine with that mucks, just think an argument is far more valid with stats to back your side up instead of just an opinion. All good though as Im sure it will be brought back up when Tiger wins masters

Why don't we just make a list of all things that "matter" when ranking a golfer, then give each item a weight. Then we can figure out who is better.

Here is a starting list of possible criteria:

# of majors
Majors win %
# of WGCs
WGC win %
# of total PGA wins
PGA win %
Marital fidelity
Skin pigment level
Media relations
Post-career charity work
BO's opinion
Anecdotes from an American Legion warehouse in Alabama.

??? Anything else matter?
