There's a reason humans have 2 eyes instead of 1. Depth perception. Get rid of those range finders, you pansies. Be a man.

Oh cool, so you would rather be someone that nobody gives a **** about, than a guy that solidified his place in the history books of golf.

Coolest part of the day was being 10 feet away from Rory when he hit an approach shot. We were down the fairway about where the drives were landing - on the right side, where he was on several holes. His shot plops down 20 feet away from us and the swarm of people was still back on the tee box so my father-in-law and I were planning on staying ahead of the crowd and heading up to the green but instead we walked over to his ball near a tree and had a perfect spot to watch him hit. Was pretty cool seeing the man, the myth, the legend up close. He got up to his ball and let out an obvious sigh before hitting a pretty good approach shot.

Dustin and Keegan were hitting 3w off many tees but Rory was always hitting his driver.

I couldn't believe one hole we saw the tee shots and Stricker out-drove Snedeker and Bill Haas.

Philbert hit his approach on #1 just off the green to the left then chipped it to 3 inches. That was cool to see.

Geoff Ogilvy on #1 hit his approach to like 12-15 feet and for fun I bet my FIL $5 that he'd make it. He missed, then missed the comebacker for a 3-putt bogey and I said "so do I owe you $10 now?"

Ben Crane hit a fairway wood on the very long #17 to literally 3-4 feet. He then took 10 minutes reviewing the putt from all angles and then missed it. lol.

Keegan takes just as long in person as he does on TV.
Nice TR.

Why do you think this? Majors arent everything man. Someone with 2 majors and no other wins just means they luckboxed their way to 2 wins. Someone with 20 wins means they have been quite consistent over the years. Golf is about consistency.

Pretty sure you can ask any pro this one too. Would they rather have 10 wins or 1 major, 20 wins or 2 majors, etc.. and Id bet most would say all the wins

With 5 regular tour wins on top of 2 majors it becomes pretty close for me.

Yeah thats different but we are talking only tour majors. He didnt say anything about top 5s either so Im just going to assume there really werent any. Think like all pros would take 20 wins over 2 majors any day especially if one or 2 of them was a WGC event or the Players or something

I didnt say 10 wins, no majors. You made that one up. I said 2 majors and 5 tour wins vs a player with 20 victories worldwide.

Majors might not be everything, but they mean more to a players career and legacy than anything else. Thats what makes them so special and why so much emphasis is put on them. Sorry you don't like that, but its the truth.

Ah I didnt see the 5 tour wins, at 2 majors and 5 tour wins Id go with that. Misread your first post from last night.

But you need to realize 80% of the guys on tour are not playing to try to make a legacy. They are playing to earn a living and have a lasting career making consistent money. This is why majors are not everything and most players would rather have a ton more wins. And take a guess who was the one to start putting emphasis on the majors and say they were the most important. It was Jack and thats only because he was winning them and wasnt going to catch Snead for most wins when he stated he wanted to win more tournaments than anyone. Maybe if Tiger stated he was gonna focus on WGC events just as much as majors, those would be the new gold standard.

Ok. Let's just blame it on Jack. It's his fault.

I didn't ignore it. You're stating the obvious with your post. I know most guys on tour are looking for longevity, but to become a great player you have to win majors. Lee Westwood can win all the tournaments across the world he wants, but until he wins a major his career will be looked at as a guy who couldnt close under pressure in the most important tournies. Calling me a troll because I didn't respond to something that is obvious is dumb though

This apparently got lost in the, um, shuffle

First off I am jealous of anyone having a PGA event in their hometown. Second, seeing Rory hit an approach has got to be badass. That swing with his irons is ****ing gorgeous, I don't care what kind of slump he's in.

You going out at all over the weekend?

No just went yesterday. You should seriously make a trek to the John Deere or some regional event if you can. Go stag if you have to - you'd love it.

The course here is in immaculate condition. Everything looks like carpeting. The 1-1/4" "rough" is really sweet too. It's very firm underneath.

Rory crushed a drive through a dogleg left. He yelled "fore right!" which was funny because he mashed it straight but by hitting through the dogleg it was technically right of the fairway. There's no way anyone way out there heard him, I think it hit someone or flew over their heads.

But yeah getting to stand like 8 feet behind them while teeing off and seeing them pipe it straight with a ball flight that starts low then just slowly pierces upward is beautiful. I stood like 3 feet behind Bill Haas while he cleaned his cleat out with his tee. He's taller than he looks on TV.

I was surprised on every shot in which the players had a tight lie with a close pin location and nothing between them and the flag (Dustin and Rory on approaches to the par 5 green) I thought they'd bump and run it and they flopped it off that tight lie to 1-3 feet. Very impressive.

In an almost stunning display of irony, you selected the exact career resume of John Daly (5 with 2). This is someone that no one sane would take over people like Stricker, Perry etc who have more wins/no majors.

So tomorrow when this stellar leaderboard starts falling all over themselves to see who can lose the tournament, will the officials just fed x the trophy to TigerGOAT with a big "Wish you were here!" card and ballon attached?
