To the point that there is not any discussion. Yeah Tiger is not in contention, but neither is anyone else. Probably the closest known name(s) right now on the leaderboard are Oglivy, Westwood, and Bradley (with all of them having a combined 2 majors to their credit and they are all at least 3 shots off the lead). When none of the casual watchers know who is playing, they do not care to watch.
Also having the course playing very difficult with the wind and cool weather (61 Degrees, ha that's polo and shorts weather up here in MN) is not helping as well. People watch golf to see birdies and great shots, they don't like watching guys grinding out pars. The only time they do is for the U.S. Open for obvious reasons.
