that's what i was thinking with a couple of my posts.
and if i found out i was playing in pebble beach next year i think i would really start to focus more on hitting the ball straight and maybe not as far.
i think what happens vis-a-vis sandbagging is that some of these celebs probably work with a golf pro every day for a couple of hours for six to eight weeks before the tournament. therefore play way better than their handicap.
like when phil ivey won a bet being a high handicap but had taken tons of lessons and hadn't played much on course recently.
also, i saw last year with harrington's rich irish horse-breeding partner (mcmanus. or is that the other guy? there was two of them in one group) he played well the first couple of days and then really fell apart. probably took tons of lessons and also got tired as the tourney went on.
i remember here in canada gretzky nailing someone from 20 yards away with a drive. not good although i think nicklaus did it too. at LA Open i couldn't believe how close i was to some pro's drives 10 yards up from them. crazy but they knew what they were doing.
