Did your dad not like golf? I'm pretty sure a lot of kids, even raised in The Tiger Era, got into golf because their dad took them to a range and showed them how to swing. Just because they liked Tiger doesn't mean they got into golf because of Tiger. If Tiger didn't exist, their dad is likely still a fan of golf and still takes his son to the range one day. And then the kid might be saying "if not for Phil Mickelson, I would have never gotten into golf", while still being wrong.
I basically never watched golf until 2011, yet can remember playing golf and going to a driving range as far back as the late-'80s. I just always thought watching golf was boring, even if it was Tiger. Now I love watching golf and think it's exciting.
You kinda make it sound like kids in this generation just would not be playing golf if not for Tiger. Which is ridiculous and completely unfounded.
Dude really? both are arguably the best at their sport of all time, and certainly the most dominant in their era.
Tiger influenced many golfers throughout the world, to deny his substantial impact on purse size, participation, and many other golf related items because you don't like him as a person is shortsighted.
