I'm not going to stop posting; doing so would be a hilariously misguided stand with no leverage. But goddammit, if I can raise any amount of attention to how bad BO has been (he hasnt provided a single piece of info in the last 6 months that I couldn't have given you, FFS) then my work will have totally been worth it. Let the Cwice vs tuq ( who has me on ignore because he's a good and responsible SE/Golf Mod) argument war via the mod-only forum or via PM...BEGIN

I'm pretty fresh in the golf forum but well aware of BOs posting history. I can see how he could seriously rustle jimmies from time to time (myself included), but to say he adds zero value to this forum is EXTREMELY shortsighted.

FWIW...I have him on ignore. But he gets quoted so often that I can't truly ignore him. Only in my dreams. I love his insight. But everything that goes along with it is purposely contentious, and with a purpose: it helps him feel better about his golf failure of his self. Well I refuse to patronize him. He's a failure ******* who deserves zero respect, despite his knowledge. This is an online forum, not a VH1 reality golf series. And if it improves the experience of my fellow peers ( all of whom I respect) then how could I not advocate for his banning?

Pretty ironic how you are trying to get someone banned for being a crappy poster by being a really really really crappy poster.

Sick burn. No, I'm merely trying to shed light on how bad he had been. It's been pretty bad. Stick to SMP or OOT or Chess or wherever you come from, IMO. You have zero clout around here.

Tiger is on Jordan's level. Think about that for a second. He made it cool to play golf. Kids dig cool ****.

I'm not trying to be a dick I just strongly disagree.
Tiger is not on Jordan's level. Come on man.

It has to be a significant percentage difference. This in turn leads to more viewership, which leads to larger TV contracts, bigger sponsorships, larger purses.

And yes, I've seen the report about the growth of other sports; but I'm pretty convinced that golf minus Tiger would be in a state where it would be flatlining.
Golf has been around for like 600 years or more. James II of Scotland tried to do away with it but he was a doucher.

Did your dad not like golf? I'm pretty sure a lot of kids, even raised in The Tiger Era, got into golf because their dad took them to a range and showed them how to swing. Just because they liked Tiger doesn't mean they got into golf because of Tiger. If Tiger didn't exist, their dad is likely still a fan of golf and still takes his son to the range one day. And then the kid might be saying "if not for Phil Mickelson, I would have never gotten into golf", while still being wrong.

I basically never watched golf until 2011, yet can remember playing golf and going to a driving range as far back as the late-'80s. I just always thought watching golf was boring, even if it was Tiger. Now I love watching golf and think it's exciting.

You kinda make it sound like kids in this generation just would not be playing golf if not for Tiger. Which is ridiculous and completely unfounded.

Of course kids would be playing, but not as many, and definitely not as many in Asia etc

It's the same in Ireland now with McIlroy, loads more young kids are taking up the game just in the last couple of years

imo, A-Rod's is under representing the impact Tiger has had in bringing millions across the world into the game of golf.

Oh no, people would still be playing golf. My point is that Tiger kept more of those who were introduced to golf. Sure, tons of kids (and adults) are exposed to golf, but the "cool factor" or however you'd like to phrase it kept a subset of people who would otherwise spend their time elsewhere interested in the game. Phil Mickelson is not that interesting to your average 10 year old kid. Tiger fist-pumping is. I never claimed that golf would cease to exist, like you seem to think. But look what's happening to baseball - it's struggling in comparison to other sports today and is no longer the dominant sport in America. The more exciting sports are growing - NFL, Nascar (lol), UFC, NBA, etc. Tiger adds an excitement boost to golf.

It's not exactly a secret that TV viewership skyrockets when he's playing - take that out and the PGA loses TV $$$. It's not that I'm claiming golf would be dead without him, I'm just arguing that he took golf up a step in several ways.

You said this. Then I said nothing at all about thinking you said golf would "cease to exist"...

If Tiger dies tomorrow, you still love the game of golf. That's because the game of golf is fun, not because Tiger Woods said it was fun.

I don't deny that he had a big impact on the game but people sometimes make it sound like Tiger Woods invented golf or something and that everyone used to hate golf before Tiger.

Just because some people require a GOAT to come along and GOAT to get into a sport doesn't mean that sport wasn't always fun.

I've always liked that the Minnesota group has the self-respect and uniform consciousness to wear the classic Vikings uniforms to the 16th rather than their terrible new uniform set. Because I have strange thoughts like that
