Great coverage again. Feel like GC has done well with the NCAA golf.

Also proves that there needs to be more match play on television. It's riveting. I was dialed in all day yesterday.

Sr. Open coverage has been fantastic. Faxon and Azinger are way more comfortable and effective critiquing their contemporaries. Faxon's insight into putting styles and swing theories is finally coming out. Phil Blackmar is a great addition and he nicely goaded Lanny Wadkins into telling the story of how he lent Tom Watson a Tony Pena driver in 1974. Watson went on to win all his 8 majors and numerous other titles with it. Lanny attested that he never got the $100 back that he paid for the club as it was a custom design made by Pena himself. Tom gonna Tom.

Lots of great names on the leaderboard and a few you don't hear much from anymore like Parnevik, Woosnam and Faldo. Couples, Lehman, Langer, Perry all in there.

Oh and yesterday Azinger sent a text to Faldo yesterday before his round calling him "pound for pound the shortest hitter in the history of golf." LOL so true. Faldo's swing looked way flatter than I remember.

Almost had another Lexi with Rahm on the 6th hole. Officials seemed to use a little common sense and no penalty since the ball was 1 or 2mm off since he had to move his coin out of a players line anyway and official pointed out the obvious that the ball never ends up in the exact same spot when you lift it and have to move your mark anyways

Steph Curry sporting his +0.1 index tees it up on the web.com tour this week. Some prop bets from bookmaker.eu.

Will Curry make the cut? Yes +900 (bet $100 to win $900), No -2500 (bet $2500 to win $100)

Highest score in any round: Over/under 79.5 (par 70)

Lowest score in any round: Over/under 76.5

Highest score on any single hole: Over/under 7

Lowest score on any single hole: Over/under 3

Total number of birdies: Over/under 2.5

Total number of bogeys or worse: Over/under 8.5

Bet the farm on him not making the cut. Bet the farm on more than 8.5 bogeys or worse.

Scores were really low last year but I'd still bet a decent amount on over for best and worst rounds.

Don't think I'd touch highest score or lowest score on a hole in addition to total birdies. Would be easier if the figures weren't whole numbers.

Should we set odds on him finishing DFL?

UNDER on lowest score on any hole seems like literally the lock of the century

Where can I actually bet on that? I mean he gets to play 8 par 3s and is a scratch golfer. What are the chances he never makes par or better on any of them? Gotta be exceptionally low and much better than either of the bets you posted.

So, if he gets a 3 it's a push? If that's the case, I agree that it's a good bet. Sort of free rollish..

i read the odds elsewhere and at first thought the same thing as you guys.

BUT,

i think if he gets a 2 then his lowest score on a hole wasn't 3 so you lose... i think it's 2.5 and under and 3 and over where i eventually saw it which i think makes it a bit more understandable.

but my first reaction was what you guys thought too.

yeah, looking at it, it says over/under 3........ but what i saw was effectively over/under 2.5 i think. and i think the money odds for it were close to 50/50 after adj for juice.

I simply copied those odds from a golf article, in retrospect a couple of those bets could not be totally accurate as you guys pointed out.

He shot 68 in the final round of the celebrity tournament, now we're going to see the difference between a setup/course like that and golf in the world of the pros.

Course has a rating of 75.1, Steph is essentially a scratch golfer, so not sure why everyone is expecting him to shoot huge numbers. I'd guess he will shoot around +6 for the 2 days. Not making the cut but not going to embarrass himself either.

I'll put DFL at -200*

* - for all players completing 36 holes.

I would bet a lot of money he doesn't sniff+6. I would set the O/U at 158.5

Being a club scratch player is vastly different than being a tournament scratch.

**Am also not entirely convinced that he is a legit scratch anyway

Because some of us understand and have experienced the difference between a casual round and competing in a PGA Tour sponsored event. The rough is higher than usual, the greens are faster than usual, the pins are cut 3-4 paces from the edges of the greens, etc.

Furthermore, with the U.S. handicapping system taking the best 10 of the last 20 scores, a player's handicap is not a precursor of average score. Rather a scratch would average about 2-over par. Just from that he is now averaging 77 per round, which by the way is +7 at Stonebrae since it's a par 70 resulting in +14 for 2 rounds. I'm thinking you failed to notice what par was since you came up with +6 for two rounds.

If he finishes +14 it's a huge win for him.

Ah you are correct, par 70. Yes thought it was 72.

Nonetheless not sure how tough this course can be, winner last year was -30 and there were 4 guys -20 or better.

There seem to be a lot of people expecting Steph to go out there and shoot 80s I just don't see it... he is not good enough to make the cut obv. but I think he's going to do better than people think.

FWIW Tony Romo missed the 36 hole cut at the Western Am yesterday...by 22 shots IIRC. Western Am is certainly one of the premier on the summer Am circuit.

Not sure how Tony compares as a player to Steph.

If its 2.5 then whatever. Could bet either way and be fine, but not a great opportunity. If its actually 3, basically no matter what the juice is, then its the lock of the century. Even u3 -1000 would be worth a bet because there is basically no way he doesn't make a par on any par 3 or a birdie on any par 4 unless he WDs.

never mind didn't realize that was yesterday.
