i should note that i assume the way it works is as such:

he gets his status then does some math and everything is seemingly fine..... but either they were didn't read/analyze it properly or higher brackets turned out to be bigger than expected...

this sort of counters what i said earlier.. the one thing that was troubling in article is that he talks about all the qualifying school guys getting in ahead of him. did that change from what he had thought?... .not sure i agree with him that playing the whole season in china (or canada for that matter) is more deserving than Q-school. i would think Q-school status should be very high.

not sure guys should drop down from the pga tour (i had that another canadian, brad fritsch, seemed to jump back and forth between tours.

Oh man, Langer is going to drive rules officials insane from the putting style he is using this week. Long putter anchored on the back swing then slightly moves his hand off the body before the club starts going forward.

Looks to me Langer is giving USGA/R&A the bird and putting the way he wants to.

I wonder what guys like Tim Clark think about trying the same thing. I don't see much of a difference.

Dawson approves that Tiger drop for Langer on 18. I guess the foreigners stick together on the Champions tour. Woody took the non-confrontation approach but wins anyway.

Cliffs? Did he drop behind the original shot like Tiger a few years back at Masters?

Playing partner disqualifications

In 2003, Dawson became involved in two separate incidents involving rules breaches. At the Chrysler Classic of Tucson in March, he was playing with Brandel Chamblee when Chamblee took an incorrect drop. Dawson was criticized for only notifying rules officials shortly after he had signed Chamblee's card, meaning disqualification rather than a two-stroke penalty.[1] In a similar incident in October, Dawson was playing with Esteban Toledo when he called Toledo on an incorrect drop, resulting in Toledo's disqualification. The latter incident resulted in a feud in which Toledo sacked the agent both players shared, and Dawson was eventually fined $10,000 for not informing officials of an infringement promptly.[2]

Langer hit 3 wood off the tee and his ball landed about 3 inches short of the red line bordering lake right side of fairway. He dropped ball about 10 yards behind that (i.e. away from green), which made zero sense because the red line is basically straight at 30 degree angle (from tee) between the point he dropped and where the ball landed.

The only way it was a proper drop is if the ball were going almost perfectly straight and tangential to the red line, the odds on that is probably a million to 1. But the ball was curving from a fade, so that can be safely ruled out.

A proper drop would have put Langer about 40 yards further away from the green. I looked at it on Google Earth to confirm.

The greens in the event in the Volvo China Open have a lot of slope for what I assume is a new course. So many guys spinning shots off the green.

How Scott McCarron is deemed to not putting with an anchored stroke is beyond me.

What a dumb rule if it can't be clearly enforced.

So this Jaeger guy who shot 58 on Thursday on the web.com is 2 pars away from shooting 250 for the week. Crazy.

Dalke losing 7 holes in a row is pretty remarkable. But he missed every fairway on the third nine.

Edit- 8 in a row, and looks a favorite to make it 9.

Watched Franco take home the Shaw Charity Classic from Canyon Meadows today. Cool day until later in the afternoon, a lot of players were in toques and mittens when not swinging. Crowds were not too big.

Didn't know Franco's story but nice to see a guy like that get a taste of victory again.

Was painful watching him play, also same said for Jose Coceres a couple groups ahead. These guys were painfully slower than any other players I watched, took forever on every tee and green.

Beef has entered the Web.com Tour Finals. I wonder if his Arby sponsorship has anything to do about that?

Senior PGA at Trump DC this week. At least he's overseas this week. I see he also has a re-design credit on this course.

HE would seem like a guy who would:

a) Fire the design company 2 days before completion and say he was the designer or

b) Rip up a green and move it 5 feet over based on his input and BOOM, I redesigned the course.

To be fair he has played enough course that I am sure he could draw a perfectly decent 2-d hole on paper. The real design comes in on grading, sculpting, drainage, irrigation and moving dirt optimally.
