Yup - always two stroke play courses which can accommodate ~156 guys/course/day

Making match play at the US Am is a big achievement - guys can leverage that into invites for other am events and sponsor invites to pro tournaments

312 has been standard for many years. 2 courses with 156 at both.

156 is the standard max at a course in a high level event. 13 threesomes off both 1 and 10 in two waves.

Certainly during Spring/Summer months. All high level events that I know of held during short daylight months are 144 max.

Players Championship was 144 when played during March, then went to May and could have expanded to 156, but remained 144. Seemed weird to me as I would think the tour would want as many players as possible for a major event.

On the PGA Tour full field events are 156 players during DST, 144 otherwise. (I think opposite field events are 132 players) Also, during DST on the weekend unless there are special circumstances, players are grouped in twosomes off #1 tee. Otherwise it's usually threesomes off both #1 and #10.

The October full field events (e.g. Shriners) are 144, but are in DST. Basic rule is > 12 hours of daylight => 156 players possible.

There are exceptions, Pebble Beach, American Express, Farmers, as they have multiple courses for first 36.

So what is the thought on Bennett going full Sergio over the ball?

Here was his response: https://www.golfwrx.com/692698/us-am...ing-criticism/

I don't think saying he has anxiety gives him a pass.

it is. i watched the Walker Cup there last year and it is brutal. i guess conditions aren't too crazy with the wind.

i spoke too soon about UNC winning, as match play semis and finals are today (coverage on GC from 15:00 - 19:30).

Yeah, I caught some of the Walker Cup and that COVID match thing. Doesn't seem easy at all, so even if the weather was completely benign I'm shocked that through 3 rounds DFL is +2?????

Final stage of KFT Q School has been streaming today (maybe on Golf Channel, too?) and it's really fun to watch guys play for their status/starts on the KFT.

Enjoy! It's like Disney World for golfers.

Bae failing to convert one of those birdie putts on #10, #11 or #12 may be her undoing. Got to put some pressure on Rose and she missed several opportunities

HOF that she went for it on 15 - give yourself the opportunity to hit an iconic shot and close the door.

Love that at Augusta no lead is safe. Need this event to be 3-days at ANGC - stoked and ready for next week!

was nice seeing Bae 'force' Rose to two-putt on #10 green and not just totally give it away (yes, she def had work to do for her bogey but Rose knew a 3-putt may not get it done). great event and something that actually does grow the game of golf

As expected course was AMAZING. Hit the merch building first off and literally dropped $1k on stuff. Then walked the course except for 7, 8, and 17. Was just starting to walk back to amen corner to watch some shots there when the horn sounded and we had to leave the property. Quickly decided not to stick around and wait so headed back home. Saw everything I wanted to. A few observations.

- Everything there is run top notch. From security to the bathroom attendants.
- 13 is the prettiest hole that I have ever seen, even more than 12.
- 15 looks tougher to hit in 2 than I thought.
- The room off of 18 tee is more than I thought.
- 5 and 11 are absolute beasts. Funny enough 11 really fit my eye.
- Food was great, and cheap.
- Parking is free and plentiful but tough to exit out of there. I think it took us at least 30 minutes to get out of the lot. Next time I would probably opt to pay for parking nearby so I could exit quicker.
- Ate at Tacocat in downtown Augusta the night before. Highly recommended. Not in the menu: Cat Tacos
- Stayed at the Augusta Marriott on the river DT. Older hotel for sure but good enough and really quiet. Looks like they put up all of the Drive, Chip, and Putt families there.

nice poast

- did they have the option to hold your merch and for you to pick it up later (so that you didn't have to haul it around). that is what i did yrs ago

- where are 'patrons' expected to go during a weather emergency? never understood this. only time it happened to me was the '91 USO and somebody was killed by lightning about 50 to 75 yds from me

- yes the pro tip is to park at someone's house on Washington Rd about a 1/4 mile to a 1/2 mile SE of Magnolia Ln

- Yes they held your bags and gave you a claim number to pick up on your way out.

- All people are evacuated from the property if there is going to be lightning. They don't have enough space to house all of those people indoors. They did blow the horn about an hour and a half before the weather came so there was time to get everyone out. Oddly enough I was at that US open as well for a practice round.

- I really like that pro tip. Good to know for next time.

So the DP tour is now probably weaker than the Korn Ferry tour because they sided with the PGA tour and are banning LIV golfers. The Asian tour just announced an event in Scotland.
