Played with this week's KF winner Max McGreevy in the second of a two day event back in January. He played PGA Tour China last year, won the order of merit, which gave him full status this year on KF. He struck me as solid, not flashy, not stupid long but long enough.

He shot a very boring 6-under that day, clipped me by two.

This coverage of the U.S. Amateur is just hour after hour of uninterrupted Bandon porn.

i'm recording and haven't watched yet, but that's not surprising...especially late in the day as the sun gets low and the shadows grow long. it really is a fantastic place to experience if you play golf.

if anyone who loves the game and hasn't been there is on the fence, just do it. there are shoulder seasons that knock the price down a few pegs, and winter is even less expensive and typically no where near as bad you think it is. you'll thank yourself later.

was just watching that live. It was obvious what his caddie did and the caddie still tried to deny it when the rules officials questioned him about it.
KingJames, please tell me that wasn’t your brother.

Confirmed not my brother. My brother doesn’t even know the guy (400+ caddies during peak season July to September). Big big ****up. Ya hate to see it for the player - that match had been solid.

So guess is that it's a local caddie that thought nothing of doing it because he does it all the time for the resort guests. I'm sure he knows better but was running on auto pilot.

that's crazy if it wasn't his normal caddie

It’s an amateur event so he probably doesn’t have a normal caddie.

Seems like the player handled it really well, much respect for that.

Amateurs rarely have caddies, let alone normal caddies unless it’s a father.

Couple of Bandon caddies were responding to threads on twitter; they had both asked around, and apparently NO ONE knew the guy, but Bandon's official account claimed him the day before.

I've watched almost every minute of the U.S. Am coverage. Here are my predictions from here on out:

Strafaci > Gupta
Osborne > Sharpstene

Strafaci > Osborne

Anyone else have any predictions?

Nice. Gupta is going to be a tough out... that's for sure. I'm worried his lack of length will eventually catch up to him. Hit putting has been A + though.

FWIW, the remaining players datagolf rankings:

Strafaci #37
Gupta #193
Sharpstene #276
Osborne #345

I'm basically just throwing darts. Loving every minute of the coverage. Bandon must love the "free" two hour commercial for their resort.

based just on game i'm seeing a Gupta/Osborne final. based on story alone i think Strafaci will get there...which would be a great addition to the family legacy.

qft

His grandfather must have been The Truth. The 1935 U.S. Am Public Links champ and then 19 years later loses to eventually winner Arnold Palmer in the 1st round of match-play in the 1954 U.S. Am.

Gupta up against it early here. Very poor start.

If ntnBO sees this post, I'd be curious to hear his biggest match-play comeback story.

You have to feel for Gupta. Showed a ton of heart, but then fkd it up with his mishits in the fairway bunker. I still like Strafaci to ship it today.

Not much match play experience here. Club championships and state ams as a kid but no crazy stories. Never played match play in a USGA event.

Biggest comeback would be some money game with one down autos or similar.

Raises hand. I have a sad match play experience. Not a crazy comeback, just something sad. Playing our club match play tourney in the semi-finals. I am 1 down going to 17. I am sitting 30 feet for birdie. Opponent is long and left, like a foot from OB. No green to work with but he has wind against him. He hits it, 2nd bounce in the cup. I miss my birdie putt and lose 2 down.
