it's a nice course and the staff were very nice. greens were lightning fast. but the elevation changes on many holes were tough to cope with for me at least. if you are not a fan of elevation change courses, stay far away from this one. I lost track of how many golf balls I lost lol.
a couple of examples:
one par 4 is about 350 yards and is literally a 90 degree dogleg right. but you hit your "layup" tee shot uphill and the 2nd shot is down to a tiny island green (surrounded by canyon wasteland and water). obv you have a severe downhill stance on the 2nd shot. I hit a nice tee shot with about 140 yards left to the green. took me 4 tries to land on the green after that ugh.
another par 4 - about 300 yards - it's about a 50 yard elevation climb from the tee box to reach the short fairway and green. you can't see the green from the tee box - there is a pole at the top of the hill that directs you to where the middle of the green is. you have to clear about 200 yards to reach the fairway area and if your ball isn't in the air at least 50 yards above the tee box, you will hit the side of the hill and drop to the bottom. which is exactly what I did
so I took out a short iron for my 2nd shot, swung as hard as I could aiming at the pole. to my amazement, my ball ended up 10' from the flag. 2-putts for one of the more unlikely pars I have ever made.
it was a fun and different experience but I probably would only ever go play that course again if I had someone in town who wanted to play it.
a side note - I played as a single that day and wound up running into a group of nice teens who played high school golf in Mesquite on the 10th hole. I finished the round with them and had some good convo. one thing they said was that Wolf Creek was a much harder course than Falcon Ridge. yikes!
