I played golf Monday and since then they have both been sore and stiff. I'm changing how I use my feet/ground in golf and I was wondering if I was just using them a way I wasn't used to. Pretty annoying!
So I'm not sure if you have the same thing I have but found this channel pretty useful. https://www.youtube.com/@TreatMyAchilles

They have a few good informative videos I have watched including this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmGQGc8kq3M

For me I did start indoor football/soccer a couple of weeks ago. I remember years ago probably when I was like 19 we used to train indoors and I got such bad shin splints thankfully don't have that now but the indoor thing could be related.

Am going to try a different golf shoe in the meantime I think whilst also doing a bit of strength training for it.

I was pretty impressed by his game outside of that putting stroke.

My god it's worse than Zalatoris'. How the ball gets rolling on line I have no idea.

Given the swing and the stroke (and the other reports of his golfcapades) my strong guess is there were some edit mulligans.

Thanks for this!

Enjoyed that more that I expected to. Trump would be a good leadoff guy for your scramble team - his swing is ugly but consistent. I actually doubt that there were mulligans/editing/whatever.

had an 8:22 tee time this morning and the grass was a little slick. Was going down a hill and the cart breaks locked up and the cart spun around while still going downhill. I thought for sure the cart was gonna tip over and I was gonna get seriously hurt. It didn't tip and after a bit my heart stopped racing.

Question......how hard is it to tip over a golf cart????

Very easy to tip one, you got lucky. There’s a reason the Suzuki Samurai was shaped like a golf cart!

Damn. And I wasn't even engaging in any shenanigans. Not familiar with the course and wet grass = not good.

fairly easy if you exceed the speed rating and slope, especially when brakes can't help
electric carts do have a low center of gravity because battery, not sure about a gas tank plus motor

It happens, wet grass is the devil.

Yes batteries are heavy but the roof structure is heavier than you would think. Because of the batteries the wheels typically stay on the ground, but once it starts tipping the roof just drags it over.

Not long ago a buddy had to deal with an idiot who flipped a cart in a bunker. Idiot was laughing, buddy told him it wasn’t ****ing funny!

It was an electric cart so maybe the battery saved me. I also like to thick that if it tipped over I would have avoided injury by just leaning hard to the right with my cat like reflexes.

I still get shivers recalling an event about 20 years ago now, buddy was driving a golf cart down a path that was steep sloped and wet. He hit the brakes and the cart skids and starts sliding down the path, driver side first, and the other side is starting to come off the ground. He sticks his leg out, ostensibly to catch the cart and push back off the path. In the moment I can just imagine the ensuing compound fracture, but the cart steadies and doesn't actually tip over.

He's a really smart guy and we all still mock him for being so dumb as to stick his leg out there.

Years ago I got into a similar situation where I ended up happily going down a long steep hill backwards. And I had the same feeling of relief afterwards.

I was playing at a charity event at Jasna Polana (gorgeous course, btw) about 10 years ago. My friend tried to drive down a hill, but gradually and not straight down. I jumped out and was shocked that he didn't roll it over.

Carts are easy to roll over.

Last year a friend of mine rolled a cart at Wolf Creek while he was wasted. He came away with only a scraped up leg, but if you know that course he's lucky to be alive.

Saw some idiots roll a cart at Riverview GC in Santa Ana. Last hole (obv drunk) trying to slalom down the river embankment.

I haven't been fortunate enough (or unfortunate) to play Wolf Creek yet. But I've played a couple of other Mesquite area courses and the elevation changes are crazy. This course in particular (Falcon Ridge):

this pic doesn't really do the elevation from this tee box justice. but the hills you see in the distance - there are multiple tee boxes that you have to go up hills like that to get to. Literally 200' almost straight up. It's the only time I've been legit terrified in a golf cart that the cart wouldn't make it up the slope and would slide back down the hill going full speed. Or could tip over if I didn't angle the cart correctly turning into the tee box area. Thankfully the cart did always get to the top. Had to ride the brakes 100% going back downhill though.

curious your opinion of falcon after playing?
some courses give the impression a crowbar was used to wedge design into the landscape parts
and based on the bulge around those traps odds are this is one of them
won't ask how many balls you lost

it's a nice course and the staff were very nice. greens were lightning fast. but the elevation changes on many holes were tough to cope with for me at least. if you are not a fan of elevation change courses, stay far away from this one. I lost track of how many golf balls I lost lol.

a couple of examples:

one par 4 is about 350 yards and is literally a 90 degree dogleg right. but you hit your "layup" tee shot uphill and the 2nd shot is down to a tiny island green (surrounded by canyon wasteland and water). obv you have a severe downhill stance on the 2nd shot. I hit a nice tee shot with about 140 yards left to the green. took me 4 tries to land on the green after that ugh.

another par 4 - about 300 yards - it's about a 50 yard elevation climb from the tee box to reach the short fairway and green. you can't see the green from the tee box - there is a pole at the top of the hill that directs you to where the middle of the green is. you have to clear about 200 yards to reach the fairway area and if your ball isn't in the air at least 50 yards above the tee box, you will hit the side of the hill and drop to the bottom. which is exactly what I did so I took out a short iron for my 2nd shot, swung as hard as I could aiming at the pole. to my amazement, my ball ended up 10' from the flag. 2-putts for one of the more unlikely pars I have ever made.

it was a fun and different experience but I probably would only ever go play that course again if I had someone in town who wanted to play it.

a side note - I played as a single that day and wound up running into a group of nice teens who played high school golf in Mesquite on the 10th hole. I finished the round with them and had some good convo. one thing they said was that Wolf Creek was a much harder course than Falcon Ridge. yikes!

I officially become a Senior Am in less than 2 weeks...ughhhh but also YAY!

Playing a few state, regional and club Senior events through the fall. I'll be interested to see how it goes as one of the "young guys" at least for a little bit. I had hoped to be a bit better prepared in terms of my game but my game seems to have turned the corner a few week ago

Do country clubs offer pro-rated memberships to snow birds? We would be spending summers elsewhere and wouldn't want to pay for a membership we don't use for half of the year.

My old club (I didn't re-up this year) has a 3 month membership option.

I remember playing it what a gem of a course We also played Entrada were I discovered there are lava fields especially on the back nine. I think it turned private shortly after . Also remember playing one way out in wasteland I think it was Coyote Springs .
