So it's making shorter courses obsolete. Cleary this is for professional golf. Is it such a bad thing if am golfers are shooting better scores because the courses play shorter? Why do scores have to be the same over time?

almost all golf is played for at least one of these reasons:
beat someone else
beat your previous self
have fun

equal playing field the rest shouldn't matter

Played Champions in 1999 in a U.S. Open Sectional. After a practice round was walking into the pro shop, opened the door while turning to my dad to say something and paused for a moment. Continuing through the doorway without looking I ran square into something. Turned around only to discover I'd run directly into Jackie Burke! I apologized, he grumbled a few things under his breath and quickly escaped. I was mortified.

I see that many of the top Youtube instructors have, unfortunately, lowered themselves to ongoing trend of stupid video titles.

The favs being..

This _______ tip is like cheating
What nobody tells you about________
99% of golfers don't know this
99% of golfers get this wrong
No one know this..

I love the last one, because if no one actually knows it, then...????

I'm not a YouTube instructor, but I would go with "fix your slice with this one weird trick...."

I don't see much of this now as I guess the algorithm I'm on just shows me more actual playing content. I remember though guy called James Robinson is the worst. I try and tell most people to stay away from youtube golf teaching content and either figure it out for yourself or go get a lesson. I remember I went down that rabbit hole and it was terrible basically go looking for problems you might not have and try to fix them,

How do I get the wrinkles out of a golf cart cover, or are the windows always going to be winkled if it's folded up?

I just counted the golf instructional bookmarks I have (websites and vidoes). Only 38 total.

I did laugh at some of the other bookmarks I have such as:

How to install a simple kitchen backsplash (that was an epic fail)

How to cut tile for beginners (another bad idea)

Can anyone recommend a good book about the life of Bobby Jones? I picked up his autobiography and it's not what I am looking for. I think it was written too early in his life, before he founded Coca Cola, founded the Masters, etc, etc. I'm interested in reading about all of that and not just his golf accomplishments.

Don't know what you mean, but I read Jones started and owned Coca-Cola. No?

my understanding is he started companies that bottled coke, not the actual coca cola company

Since buying the golf cart cover and heater I've gotten in 3 more rounds so far this year. I'll never be interested in playing when it's 45°, but yesterday it felt like 46° when I finished. That made me realize I need to upgrade my clothing. What are some of your favorite items? I was too bulky in a t shirt, sweatshirt, zip up. I don't really like a tight fit for my upper body, but the layers were too bulky

I figure this might be a good time of year to get something on clearance.

Cold weather layering is usually:

Thermal Layer (Under Armour or Nike)
Golf Polo
Vest or Patagonia Fleece for the true cold days
Thin jacket to cut the wind

Is there really a difference between an Under Armor or Nike thermal layer than say a Cabela's which I'm guessing is a fraction the price?

My thermal layers for Bills' games are Cabelas/Eastern Mountain Sports and they seem fine.

Good stuff. I haven't heard of a thermal layer. That and the thin jacket, especially are great suggestions for layering. Thank you!

I'll check Cabela's out too. I think there's one nearby.

I go

Base layer (long sleeve, breathable)
Mid-weight wool sweater
Fleece zip front vest

Disposable hand warmers in the pockets or in the mitts (which I usually bring)
Standard stocking hat/beanie

If it's really on the cold side or windy I might add something but this is my general go-to. Warm enough and not restrictive at all.

similar to Zim
probably only thing to add is covering the ears and neck when the wind is up
knit cap and/or gaiter

Yeah similar to everyone else but with a snood if its really cold,

When its cold I actually prefer to carry to keep the hands in the pocket whilst walking.

Probably not, I assume any Thermal would work.

There's a big difference for me because the athletic thermals are much thinner, I can't have any thick clothing on to swing.

For the most brutal conditions here's what I wear. Long sleeve base layer, light UA fleece, FJ jacket to block both wind and cold. Cold weather UA pants with rain pants over them again to block the elements. Stocking hat, then cart gloves to wear between shots. With that setup I'm not getting cold unless it's close to zero and can still swing freely.

Multiple layers are key as is covering both head and hands because that's where much of the body's heat is lost.
