Went through this this year. My partner is a lefty, we'd been to the range before, she tried right handed (my clubs) and had bought a 7 iron for hitting balls left handed.
But this year she moved across to be with me so joined my club as a social member, she can use the practice facilities and does as well as local driving range.
She actually went cack handed (yes left handed stance but right handed grip), she wouldn't listen, and was humoured by other members who just thought she was fannying around never having seen this woman before this year, even the assitant pro didn't change her grip on the *first* lesson
It was 5 months before she had her second due to a health issue keeping her off the course, by this time the AP had got used to seeing her around as she had done some practicing in this time, his first comment "did we talk about your grip last time"? He very quickly managed to get her onto a proper left handed grip and so we have moved on.
My point, unless she's very ambi, then go with left handed, yes it makes equipment a pain (jesus try even getting a RH ladies glove), but you've got to give yourself the best chance to succeed
