Right, hitting up to 700 shots in a round would be a workout for most.

But speaking theoretically, I'd say anything over a 20 would not have much chance. They likely can't hit it over 200 yards, and many tour courses have at least 1 or 2 holes where one would need to carry 200+.

But for a 15 index who can carry 220+, I don't see a problem shooting par or better. I'm guessing that would produce an expectation of winning about equal to a typical tour player.

With proper strategy I imagine the worst score a 15 index would shoot on a typical PGA Tour layout is 72. Pars on almost every hole and a few birdies on the par 5s and short par 4s.

Endurance would play a part though.
Birdie 3, if not 4, of the par 3s, that are under 200 yards.

Arrived yesterday, pretty excited tbh. Hoping to squeeze in a handful of test shots this evening ... anything more rigorous is probably going to have to wait for the weekend. I need a more convenient range (or a simulator setup).

Also watched several youtube videos last night, still looking for a solid fix for my driver issues. I'm interested in seeing data because I don't actually seem to have any skyball marks on the top of my driver which is what the typical video talks about. I do think I have a terrible AOA, should be easy enough to confirm.

Direct from Garmin. I signed up for email notice when they got some in and impulse bought when they sent me one.

I know some of the retailers got stock as well.

Hit (literally) six balls with it after my round tonight, that's all I had time for (plus that was how many balls I brought to donate). Went through the manual last night, got it charged etc so it was ready to go.

Didn't take any time setting it up or trying to make sure I had it precisely dialed in. But it looks to me like it captured things quite accurately -- I hit four 7 irons (of course I duffed the first one) and two drivers. Distance on the solid 7 irons was pretty close to what I would have expected and both the distance and direction on two lousy pulled drivers was pretty spot on.

Looks like I have to subscribe to something to store video, something more to look into before next time.

Overall very positive first impression.

I never wanted one and certainly don't really need it, but after reading a review I'VE GOT TO HAVE IT!! My wife might kill me though. Maybe next year after I firm things up with my swing, but I've definitely got this on the radar now. Very cool.

How much is the subscription? Also, can you download the video and view it with a program independent of Garmin, like Windows Media player, or is it in a format where you are forced to subscribe if you want to view the video in the future?

I showed my wife and she shrugged her shoulders and said, "well, get it." So now I'm on the signup list. This escalated quickly.

Otter I tried finding the answer for you so decided to look on the app and I assume you only need to have the sub if you struggle with storage but not 100% going by this picture.

In the UK it's £8.99 Per month or £89.99 a year.

Yeah, I think that's the info. Here it's $9.99/mo or $100/yr I think. I haven't started my free trial yet, going to wait to start the clock until I hit the range next, probably Sunday if the rain stays away.

I tried recording my six shots but don't know if I did it correctly. I think you can review during your session (which I didn't) but it doesn't save them unless you subscribe. Not sure though.

As far I remember you can record the video on your phone - the option above is just to store in the cloud and to allow you to record more.
Realistically how many swing videos do you need recorded? Obviously if the answer is loads then it's probably a no brainer.

IMO the subscription would be better spent on Home Town Hero which allows you to play a top down version of pretty much any course in the world.

I've long since sold mine as I only used it once due to young kids and then my outdoor hitting cage got destroyed by a storm.
I had a Mevo+ previous to this and was very impressed with R10 considering it's 1/4 of the price.

I'll (obviously) be trying again with the recording but since I intend to buy the subscription anyway, not going to worry about it. Cloud storage will just be a bonus.

Going to wait on HTH since I don't really have any interest in 'playing' a course on an outdoor driving range. Plan is to test out the free (in iOS) courses on e6 Connect once I get a sim setup, if that looks like it'll stick I'll spend the coin for some combination of HTH and e6/GSPro/Awesome Golf/TGC2019.

Totally understand the selling it due to non-use. If I find myself in the same position I may do that as well, though I doubt it'll happen.

I'm NOT a morning person but today I'm going to squeeze in 9 holes before work for the first time in my life. I used to be one of the first ones at this course 30 years ago, but I was getting paid to be there.

Just finished Shipnuck's Phil book. My quick hit review is if you follow golf news at all, and definitely if you listen to golf podcasts, you know all the really interesting stories already. But it's a quick read with some interesting anecdotes.

One story that I hadn't heard that made me chuckle: Phil and JT were paired up after the Phil/Bones split, with Bones on the bag for JT. Phil hit one out of the bunker and apparently it's customary for the other player's caddie to clean the ball while the other caddie rakes the bunker (to speed things up). Bones was about to clean Phil's ball, but Tim came running out of the bunker and did it. Later, when JT was paired with Tiger, Bones went over to clean Tiger's ball when Joe was cleaning a bunker, and Tiger growled, "I'd rather have Tim do it."

Funny stuff from Tiger.

I have held off on getting it as I assumed all the good stuff is already known from exerts.

Will this keep track of the distances you hit individual clubs? Also, would I be able to store a "custom club,"? For example if I want to store data for how far I hit a 3/4 swing PW?

You definitely can save practice sessions and view club filtered data.

Been using the awesome golf simulator trial and it has a range feature called “coaching” I think that would probably let you save custom club distances.

Pencil and paper would also work 😜

In the Garmin range, yes, it keeps track of distances by club ... as long as you remember to tell it what club you are hitting (you select from a list and it stays on that club until you tell it you have changed). I have not noted that it offers a 'custom club' option, though given that there are 16 club options you could use an unused one.

I haven't looked into any of the other software options yet, so I don't know if the e6 range offers those features or not.

Thanks guys! I ordered one and it'll be here later this week. I watched a comparison of it versus Trackman And the overall distance looked to be pretty accurate in comparison all though some of the other data was way off. The videos were 5 to 10 months old so maybe a software update would fix that but really the most important thing is how far the ball goes for me. As long as that's good then I'm very excited.

I brought it out with me to the range before my round today for another brief session. I activated my Garmin Golf trial this morning and sure enough, it saved video no problem. It's nice to have the stats overlaid. Now I just need to see if there's a way to step through the shots instead of having to manually select one at a time.

Seems pretty accurate to the naked eye. And man are my numbers pathetic.

I contacted the developer and here is their response for anyone interested. Whew, no need for paper and pencil.

Yes, within the Garmin Golf app there is a section that is called "my bag" here you will see a list of golf clubs. Within my bag you can delete, edit, add, or retire any clubs. You are able to add your custom clubs here and give a nickname for the clubs as well so you can help distinguish them better.
