Played half moon bay old course for the 1st time. 18th hole was literally the most beautiful hole I've ever played in my life. Right on par with 18 at Pebble, though i've never played pebble.

I'm an 11 handicap. Played with my dad from the Blue tees. Birdied the 1st hole. Shot 49 on the front. 4 birdies on the back, 3 doubles, a par, and a bogey for a 39 on the back, 88 total. Man sometimes I wonder what if....

Does anyone have a Tour Striker?

I just started golfing 3 months ago and am pretty athletic so I am not particularly that bad yet, I'd say my best game is swinging Irons but if I'm going to start playing golf now I would like to start by learning how to hit it the real way.

I just checked the Tour Striker website and the normal one they have for mid-high handicappers says it is for people with slow swing speeds.

I swing very fast and powerful so I'm wondering if I should buy a different Tour Striker

I've got the TS and the TSx, and they're a lot of fun to practice with.
The only problem I see with them is that you can hit an acceptable shot with them by hitting them fat.

Is it just me or has Padraig Harrington's Irish accent faded over the last 5 years? I think i remember his accent being much stronger in the past.

i have a friend that i haven't golfed with in a while who is really good. last time i golfed with him he eagled the 1st hole (par 5), birdied the 2nd and 3rd, and holed out from 100 yards for an eagle on 4. i remember his ball landing 10 feet past the hole, and zip, in the cup. at that point i looked at him and said "are you ****ing kidding me?" think he shot 32 that day on one of the hardest courses in the area.

i think i'll call him and see if he wants to play saturday.

and yeah, that is totally misc and random golf chatter.

Paying for 9 and playing 2 balls. Stealing, douchey, good investment?

if you're not holding anyone up then i see no problem with playing 2 balls. good investment imo.

There's nothing wrong with that. Unless you're in a foursome and you're the only one playing two balls.
If it's just you or a twosome, not many courses would have a problem with it as long as you weren't holding people up. Me and a buddy were stuck between foursomes last week so we both played two balls also.

Guys,

Not sure if you have heard of this site before or not, I think it's relatively new. But basically it is a discount golf store that runs "events" on certain brands for a couple of days at a time.

Right now it's TaylorMade. For example, they have TP Z Wedges for $79 each. Or you can get 2 dozen Penta's for $68. Drivers, FW woods, and irons as well.

They had a Travis Mathews sale last week, and have Ping and Izod coming up.

I have no idea if they are reputable or not as I haven't purchased anything. But it looks like a good opportunity to get some stuff for cheapish.

I would proceed with EXTREME caution.

I know nothing about that site - I recognize the name and know that there are threads on GolfWRX about it but I haven't checked anything out - but here's why:

If they're selling current stuff from TaylorMade, Ping etc at a discount either (1) the clubs are fake, knockoffs or used, OR (2) they won't be doing it for long.

You won't find legit Ping stuff discounted ANYWHERE. Ping sets a "minimum acceptable price" and they're ruthless about enforcing it. If someone sells Ping for less, even one item, even innocently - and Ping finds out about it, then the seller's account is insta-yanked. They do compliance checks.

I think that TM and most of the other major OEMs have the same pricing policy. It's price fixing but for some reason I'm too lazy to look up it's allowable. That's why the Dick's ad in the paper has the same prices on the same stuff week after week.

Buyer beware.

I may have typed something incorrectly, but as soon as I submitted my info to that page, the next time I typed in google.com it redirected me to some weird page. I quickly closed the browser before I really saw much of what it was. Of course, I could've typo'd the entry.

Can any of you good golfers give this a quick look and LMK if I have any glaring problems.

I have no idea how to rotate it, sorry.

I'm like a 98-105 average golfer.

Tough to judge as I have to turn my head sideways but here's my thoughts.

1. Slightly stronger grip would do some good.
2. Backswing is too fast (this first thing my instructor usually tells me). Let your backswing come to a stop before your start your downswing too. A slight hesitation would work, or as Roy Mcavoy would say, "A nod to the gods."
3. Letting your weight getting to the outside of your right foot. Twist the ball of your foot into the ground and pivot around that point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAXNglCDcz4 Watch this video. Ignore the annoying cameraman.

I've been unable to go to the range since Sunday, as I re-aggravated an ankle injury suffered in baseball at the end of May. Took a liner off my tibia while pitching which resulted in a terrible bone bruise which lasted weeks.

Too much pressure/torque on left ankle I suppose. Felt fine at the range Sunday night but by Tuesday my ankle was all inflamed and I was gimping it. Trying to get ahold of my doc to re-up my NSAID prescription of Diclofenac.

I'm trying to get into the game and was hitting really well, too. Damn setbacks.

finally broke 90 again today for the first time since July 16 (27 rounds) - shot an 87, really put together a good round and left some shots out there too - won skins 11-6-3 too

hopefully can keep the magic alive tomorrow and sunday and turn the handicap back in the downward direction where it was headed until mid-july

edit: putting my old GI irons back into the bag permanently - i bought a set of titleist AP2's this year when i was really feeling myself, and although they are great when hit right, come to grips with the fact that my game is not ready for them and sticking with the GI irons that were, in fact, improving my game earlier in the year - soooo set of LH titleist AP2's for sale, will post a thread in marketplace
