Pretty lame for me I think it's the former pro at my former club, crushed the local PGA section events and played one season with conditional status on the Champions Tour.

Who's played with some tour pros or ridiculous college sickos?
I played a hole with Chi Chi Rodriguez when he put on a clinic at my club back in the 90s. Bunch of juniors got to play with him. He would have been mid 60s, and his back striking was still truly unbelievable.

I agree with the "Twitter is toxic if you let it" comments.

I'd been following the Murray-Na saga, and I read that Gooch would wait on the next tee while Na would take 2-3 minutes putting.

I tend to follow Fantasy Golf guys and that part of the community is great and positive.

Working at clubs in my Teens and 20s, I played with local pros, but my favorite round was half caddying-half playing with Adam Oates (hockey player for the Blues and Bruins back in the day). Normal dude who was just awesome at hockey.

I also uninstalled it off my phone and blocked it on my computer because I found it nearly impossible to not get super tilted at a huge amount of the stuff I saw no matter who I followed, so I just stopped looking at it for now. Would have been way easier to be a public figure without that stuff.

I just have way more empathy for people after I get to spend time with them, and see that he's a really nice and gracious dude.. he should probably figure out a better way to deal with twitter. I'd probably have the same opinion as you if I hadn't spent any time with the guy IRL.

I've played with a decent number of guys who aren't like elite on the PGA money list and KFT, as well as a few really good college players/juniors (like top 10 ranked). They all are just ball striking robots to various degrees. Would be fun to play with a guy like Rory for reference.

We played some Monday member/pro thing out in the Boston area years ago at my old course. 4 of us played with some KFT pro (nike tour back then), who hit 17 greens and shot 1 over. Guy had like 38 putts, and made 1 birdie that didn't contribute to our score. The other 4 of us proceeded to shoot a gross best ball 57. Remember being so impressed with the guy's ball striking... but holy hell was his putting bad. I also made 8 birdies and made about 230 feet of putts, so I'm sure the guy was about ready to quit golf forever.

I totally understand when you spend 4 hours with someone the person becomes a more nuanced human

Unfortunately for GM he admittedly has a problem. If I were advising him I would close down his ability to access SM entirely

I know for a fact there are a good number of tour players that hold similar views as GM but either I haven't come across their feeds or they keep that stuff on the DL. (and when I say "their views"I'm not just referring to their politics. It's much more than that... At least for me)

I live 5 mins away from the Muni that bears his name. I have heard he shows up every once and a while. They have a kids academy there that has done good things.

Dunno if you read argonne69's travel log on golfwrx, but he happened to play there this morning.

I know of him but do not follow that post. Yesterday was way too cold to play. 41* at 7am. It's the first time we have cancelled because it was too cold so far this year.

I actually have not played with any super sicko players. Played with tons of guys that have played PGA and Korn Ferry events of course.

In college played in tournaments against the likes of Mickelson, Furyk, Duval, Stricker, etc. but never paired with them. One event where both Phil and David were there, they were hitting balls side by side. I watched for a bit and realized their ball striking at that time was light years ahead of me.

Another event was warming up on the range face to face with Phil, said hello and that was it.

But still hoping to tee it up with some over 50 sickos in the future.

Remind us, when do you turn 50, or if you have, when is the next q-school? What's the process like for Monday qualifiers; are there pre-qualifiers like the Tour?

I follow @ Monday Q Info (Ryan French) on Twitter, and I want to read about one of you. Great follow, BTW.

There are Pre Monday Qs to qualify into Monday Qs. They take the top X players at the Q who make the Q, then they take the top Y players who make the main event.

I believe, by qualifying and making a cut, you'd be exempts you from Pre-Q.

Zalatoris(sp?) Made my google news feed with 7 birdies in a row to close 11 under 61. When it rains it pours has been my favorite mathematical statement for a long time, and when things like this happen it reminds me why.

Has anyone found a good system for putting speed control? Aimpoint is a great system for reading greens and picking a target. Seems there are decent clock drills for dialing in wedge distances. Anything you've seen to help systematize putting speed control?

Not trying to be a dick, but the answer is simply practice. You never want to do some goofy clock system with putting. Just practice putting to a spot over and over with varying breaks and such.

It’s all about feel and confidence.

When I practice putting at my club I usually just try to hit a huge variety of putts, length, breaks, up/down. The more you do it, the more comfortable it'll be on a course. I do more of my straight line work at home on my perfect practice mat. I so rarely see people hitting anything more than like a 10-15 footer, and usually it's just like 10 putts before a round.

People need to spend way more time hitting chips/putts around the green to develop feel.

Yeah that's one skill that is just down to feel. Probably one of the more difficult things to learn based on me teaching the wife how to putt.

So a couple of basic questions about your 50*, is the shaft the same as the 54* and 58*? Is the 50* 1/4” longer than the 54*? 1/4” difference in length is standard with wedges. Are you positive the above numbers with your 50* are accurate?

If all else fails you can always bend it down a degree and see if that does it. Pro tip, you don’t want to bend up, always bend down if at all possible.

Just odd, something has to be different with your 50*. Or you’re just weird.
Did some wedge yardage work today on a launch monitor. Confirmed the gapping issue but my instructor found I was setting up my wedges with the faces slightly open and was scooping a bit. With a tweak to setup and a more aggressive action through the ball I was getting the 115-120y that would be expected. 54* got a little more juice too so there is still something weird going on with the 50* but again it’s kind of moot as I’m getting new wedges before season starts; will plan to then the 50* down to 49* and groove the new setup/action. We’ll see.

we have two local domes for driving range options. i prefer one but my brother talked me into going to the one i despise. of course no parking. it's a mob scene. halfway thru our session we see someone getting taken out on a gurney with a head injury. then the kid to our left hit a ball dead right, hit the little separator fence, and shot like a missile 5 bays to the left, just missing someone's face. and then the same kid hit another shot just like it (not as hard) and the ball just missed his face.

i'm happy i made it out alive.
